| Synopsis: | Lakeway - This is the annual Lakeway Independence Day Parade, the theme of the parade is "Proud to be an American" and once again we will be there. Please note the following changes and items of interest. For those driving their vehicles to the parade and Vietnam Vets, go directly to our usual meeting location at the strip center at 1202 Lakeway Dr. For those of us towing or hauling our vehicles go to the Emmaus Catholic Church at 1718 Lohmans Crossing Rd., unload in the lower level parking lot to your left as you enter. The Church will be using their parking that morning also so keep it tight as possible. When you have unloaded head directly to the strip center where we usually form up. We will depart the strip center at 0730 so plan accordingly. As someone once said, "early is on time, on time is late. Rest rooms will be available in the Lakeway Community Center next to the strip center. We will start loading the Vets about 0720 so those with people carring capabilities please have your vehicles ready for loading ahead of time. After leaving at 0730 we will follow our route that somewhat resembles the Ho Chi Mihn trail to the upper side of the staging area which is the driving range. Once there the Vets will unload, head to their line up area and you will be free to go down and check out the rest of the parade entries but be back to your vehicle by 0800. The prade starts at 0800, at that tim we will head down to line up. During the parade you will be permitted to toss candy, beads etc. to the crowd but make sure you toss it well to the sides of the roads so kids arn't running up to the vehicles for goodies. As we finish up the prade we will head directly to Lohmans Crossing, those driving can head to parts unknown, those towing and hauling will head to Emmaus load/hook up and head out. |
