July 4th was the date for the annual Lakeway Independence Day Parade. This highly concentrated military retirement community goes all out for this special occasion. The LSMVPA and the Texas Assoc. of Vietnam Veterans have been participants of this parade for many years and is a highlight of the parade for many of the residents.
This year was one of our largest collections of military vehicles for the parade and the Vietnam Vets were accompanied by the Lakeway HS Young Men's Service Organization to help carry the Garrison Flag. Standing ovations and applause were the order of the day the entire parade route.
This year the LSMVPA took first place and the Vietnam Vets took a second in the civic category. Next year is already on the books.
