Smithville Veterans Memorial Park
The Smithville Veterans Memorial Park located behind the Smithville Community center hosted LSMVPA members to support for a wreath laying and salute to all fallen Veterans of all wars. The Memorial has the names of all Bastrop County persons who served in the wars from Texas intendance to present day conflicts.
The event support was requested by Kathy Karcher (512-237-0133) Smithville Veterans Memorial Park Event Coordinator. LSMVPA has supported Smithville Events in the past for Kathy. This event started May 30 2016 at 09:45 with our members showing up at 08:30 for a walk through! LSMVPA Members
Nine members of the LSMVPA, in Correct period dress, combat uniforms i.e. Weapons, Helmets, web belt were assembled and supported this event. The list below shows the members name, rank ,branch and period of war they represent.

The weather was warm, overcast and rained during the ceremony! The individuals presented themselves with honor and stayed at attention during the entire ceremony. We will be known as the wet nine! Our point man was Fred H who led the way! Several speakers and two very long songs were rendered. The Flags went in as advanced. Followed by the wreath laying individuals. I think we all are very glad we made this event! As the event ended so did the rain and then the sun appeared! God Bless America.
