Event: Veterans Day Parade 2015
Where: Austin
When: November 11th, 0930
Once again, LSMVPA made a good showing for the parade with 13
vehicles. Quite a few members attended without their vehicles too.
Lower than our usual turnout for Veterans Day, but that's just the way
things are sometimes.
Andy S gets the Long-Distance award this year, having driven his M1009
up from Beeville.
Seats were at a premium this year too, though I think we actually
managed to squeeze in every veteran who wanted a ride.
The citizens came out in force, the entire parade route was lined
several layers of folks deep. Judging by the caps and T-shirts, there
were a lot of veterans in the crowd.
Many schools seem to have brought entire classes. Several of these
schools had banners they had made, and distributed "Thank You,
Veterans" cards handmade by the kids. Sam R stopped when a youngster
ran out to his vehicle and gave him a card. The other kids took that
as their cue, and ran out with theirs too.
Participants included -
Danny K (USAF) with his M37B transporting Bill B and Ward B
Madison H (USA) with his M37B;
Dan D (USA) and Lisa D in their two M151's;
Fred H (USN) in his CJ-2A;
Ward B (USAF);
Bill B (USN);
Wayne C with Amanda B in his M606;
Sam R with his M1028 transporting James H (USA), Barry F (USA), Scott S and
his dad (USA), Charlie W, Ed H, and Matthew;
Andy S with his M1009 transporting Mitch C (USA).
Caitlin C with the M274 mule;
Scott P with his dad (USAF) in the M35A2;
Rory C (USMC) and Charlie S in the M931A2;
David C (USMC) and his mum in the M1009; and
Carrol H (USA) with his M38.
Veterans filled every available seat in the vehicles, none were empty!
