Scott P and I left Austin in a thunderstorm but by San Marcos it stopped raining and it was pretty nice for the rest of the day with a mostly unlimited ceiling for the show. We met up with Mark and Juli C in Castroville and followed them in to the show. Mark and Juli brought their M1010 ambulance, Scott and I were in my M1009 with M416 trailer, JD and his dad came in from Corpus with their GPW, M100 and all the goodies, Jim and a new Alamo member brought their Jeeps, an Air Force M38 and a MB respectively. The crowd was good and there was much interest in the vehicles, the kids interest in the weapons was only rivaled by the interest shown by the Chinese students of the Air School on the airfield! AC attendance was fairly light due to heavy storms to the North and East but turnout was still pretty good. Coming and going through out the day were two C47, two B25, seven spotter AC, a P39, two P51 including a 2/3 scale home built and the prettiest aircraft I have ever seen, a C19 from the CAF HQ in Midland. The US Air Force thrilled us with flyovers featuring a C5 Galaxy, a B52 BUFF (two passes each, and a wing wave from the C5!) and a very moving F16 Missing Man perfectly timed to follow the National Anthem performed by the Hondo High School marching band. It was a good day and I for one will be there for the next one!

Turned out to be a good event given the weather the day before. Jack C., Jeff E., JD H. (JR and SR), Sam R., Scott P., Mark and Juli C., set up around 9am and the last of us pulled out around 4pm. The air craft that showed up were stellar examples and the weather fully cooperated. This was the 1st Annual Event and if it was any indication next year (rain permitting) should be even better. Thanks to Sam and Scott for coming down from Austin and the Hofers for coming up from Corpus.
