Veterans Day at Bastrop |
Date: |
November 13 2010 |
Location: |
Bastrop, Texas |
The Lone Star MVPA supported the Bastrop Car and Veterans Event in Bastrop Texas. The Event was 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Our location was on the street in front of the Bastrop county Court House. Set up across from us was the Vietnam guys from G Company. They had erected camo netting with various weapons and Items of interest! Danny K downloaded His Air Force Blue Flight line truck and took up a position in the middle of the street. Madison H pulled in behind him in his Army M37. JD H of Corpus Christi had spent the night at a local motel and drove his WW2 Jeep with trailer to the event. He set up his Machine gun and mortar in the street in front of his jeep. He pulled all kinds of WW2 stuff from his foot lockers for display. His set-up was a big draw!
The weather was good! It was a little cool in the morning but warmed up and was nice for the event!
This was a very lay back event with all of us taking turns watching the vehicles and letting the others checked out the 350 car’s at the show. I found the car show to the best I have been to in sometime. In the middle of the town was a reviewing stand and Many local Veterans were saluted by the Commander General of the Texas National Guard BG Joyce L. Stevens. I got lots of thank you’s for your service and hand shakes.
A Veterans appreciation both sponsored by the Oldsmobile collectors Asso. was near our location, Coffee and sweet rolls were served! This was good because it brought lots of people by to see our vehicles. I talked to one Veteran Marine who may be interested in the club. We had a good flow of people for our location! Around 4:30 PM thing slowed down and some vendors started closing down there booths and folded up the tents. Danny ,JD and I decided to leave before the traffic would be bad!
