Lone Star Military Vehicle Preservation Association Meeting Minutes 21 October 2009
Call to Order -1910 hrs.

3. Treasurer’s Report (Toby C) Toby gave the Treasurer's report.
4. Quartermaster Report (John K) The shirts have been received. 3XL, 2XL, and XL are available.
5. Website Report (Rick H) The domain name (Lonrstar_MVPA.org) was renewed for 5 years. The hosting account is due soon.
6. Newsletter Report (Rick H) Rick H requested that the members present update their address for the newsletter. He also presented receipts for newsletter postage.
7. Recent Events:
POW/MIA Recognition 18 Sept - not attended
Ft Worth Military Show 18-19 Sept - Rory C reported that several attended and that it was a good show.
Texas Transportation Museum 26 Sept - Sam R reported that the show was a success and that it is planned to return next year.
Gonzales Parade 3 October - Danny K reported that this was a big parade. We had 10 vehicles and received first place for groups. The crowd was good in spite of the rain. Fred H received the best mileage award for being towed during the parade.
Leander BBQ 17-18 October - Sam R reported that this was a good event with lots of BBQ. We had 10 vehicles and the VFW really appreciated our attendance.
Oktoberfest at Camp Swift TX 17 October - Several members attended this event. Glen V. brought his jeep.
8. Upcoming Events:
Leander Car Show October 24th 1400 - 2000 hours.
Salute to Veterans - 5 November - Toby will attend.
RAFB Air Show 7-8 November - We have several going to this event. Details to follow.
Hutto Veterans Day Display 8-9 November - Rory C reported that there has been a date change for the event. Setup will be the afternoon of the 8th with the display being on the 9th. Teardown is scheduled for the afternoon of the 9th of the morning of the 10th. We need assistance from all members.
Veterans Day Parade 11 November - we should have a lot of vehicles for this event. Please report to the TXDOT parking lot and be prepared to line up on the bridge by 0730. The parade is scheduled to start at 0900. Scott P. will carry the American Legion, Sam R. will carry the Brownies, and Toby will carry the Elks. The uniform is ClassA.
Veterans Day Tree Planting 14 November - This is a yearly event. Several members expressed interest in attending. The event will be held at the Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park 12138 N Lamar. Please report NLT 0800. At 0830 the ceremony starts, 0900 is the live demonstration by G Company, and 0930 is the tree planting.
Smithville light parade 5 December - details TBA
9. Old Business
John SS expressed concern for personal information in the MVPA Directory. Please call the directory publisher to remove your personal information. The phone number will be sent by email by Danny K.
10. New Business
Club nominations are open for officers of the club. Those interested in an office please contact Toby C.
Danny K reminded members that Lee K is assembling information on services available for our vehicles. Please send any information you have to Lee K or Danny K.
John SS requested that the club pass out an insurance card to members. Rory C and Rick H are working on the project.
11. Announcements
Claude V announced that on 14 November there is a dinner dance in San Marcos.
