Introductions - Guests, New Members: None Quartermaster Report: John K. stated that there was no activity in ordering shirts and will contact the manufacture and report back to the club.
Treasurer's Report: Toby C was absent. Rory C. presented the treasury report. Rory stated that we have sufficient funds to meet current expenses.
Web Site Update: Rick H. presented the Web Site Report. He is working on Members vehicles section. All photo’s received have been posted. Also, working on the awards section. Please get AAR’s and photo’s to me ASAP after an event. Danny K. requested that the pictures in the directory be used in the members vehicles section. Rory C. requested that if members do not have a picture of their vehicle they select a picture from the events section of the web site and let Rick know which picture to use. Rick H agreed and will use the pictures selected my the members.
Newsletter Update: Rick H presented the newsletter report. The next newsletter is scheduled for the September meeting.
Recent Events:
McDade, 11 July: Danny K reported that the event was a great success and that we won the 1st Place-Vehicle Group award for the club. Attendees included Madison H., Danny K., Sam R., and Scott P.
Temple Family Day II, 18 July: Scott P. reported that the event was successful and we had good participation at the event. A letter from the Railroad Museum was received thanking us for our participation and inviting us back in 2010.
National MVPA Convention, 6-8 August: Danny K Reported that he and several other club members attended the national convention in Evansville Indiana. As usual there were a lot of venders and several rare vehicles at the convention. The convention also included a 100 vehicle convoy through the downtown area. Overall a great event. Next year the national convention will be in Topeka Kansas, and in 2011 Dayton Ohio.
36ID Symposium: Charlie W. reported that this was a great experience. Several WW2 veterans with the 36ID told stories about their experiences during the war. A DVD will be available at some point. Please contact the Museum at Camp Mabry if you are interested on ordering the DVD.
Danny K reported that he received a lot of interest in the vehicle request from a movie producer.
Upcoming Events: Danny K. outlined upcoming events. Danny will send out additional information as it becomes available and information will be posted on the club web site. Events included:
NRA Baseball event, 245 August: Charlie W has tickets to the Monday night event if any member wants them. He has only a limited number of tickets. Please contact Charlie W. for information.
All Era Militaria Yard Sale, 29,30 August: This event is scheduled for the last weekend in August in Harker Heights near Fort Hood. Contact Dave D. or the website for additional information.
Marine Deployment. 13 Sept. The 1/23 Marines are scheduled for deployment. An open house is scheduled for 13 September from 0900 to 1200 hours at Camp Mabry. Military vehicles from all eras have been requested. Please plan on being setup by 0830. Contact Jeff M. and John K. if you plan on attending.
POW/MIA Recognition Ceremony at the State Cemetery 18 Sept. This event starts at 1100.
Fort Worth Show, 18-20 Sept: Many club members plan on attending.
Moody Cotton Harvest, 26 Sept: Club participation cancelled
Texas Transportation Museum, 26 Sept: The San Antonio MVPA has invited us to attend the open house event in San Antonio. Please contact Danny K if interested in attending.
Gonzales Parade, 3 Oct: This is a great event to attend, but we are limited as to the number of vehicles we can bring and is limited to small vehicles for the most part. We need one big truck. Contact Danny K for additional information.
Galveston fund raiser in Temple, 3 October: No word has been heard for this event and it is assumed cancelled.
CAF Air Show, 10-11 October: This air show is in Midland TX. Additional information is available at www.commemorativeairforce.org and www.airsho.org .
Leander VFW Annual BBQ, 17-18 Oct. Display vehicles have been requested. Set up Thursday and Friday. Additional information will be sent as it becomes available.
Randolph AFB Air Show, 7-8 Nov. Additional information will be sent as available.
Veterans Day Parade, 11 November, Austin TX. This event will be similar to past Veterans Day Parades. Additional information will be available at the next meeting.
Veterans Tree Planting, 14 Nov, Austin TX at Zilker Park. This is an annual event to honor Veterans. Additional information will be sent as it becomes available.
Old Business:
Rory C. reminded the club that Toby C is running for the National MVPA Board of Directors. Please vote only for him if you want Toby to win a seat
Danny K reported that we raised $80 for flags tor the National Guard. This will purchase 8 flags. We received a letter from the museum thanking us for the donation. Thanks to all the members that supported this effort.
New Business:
Danny K reported that there is a weekly car show every Saturday evening at the Cabela’s parking lot in Buda.
Jeff M reported that he and Glen V assisted the museum in the transporting of a 1942 fire engine which is currently being restored.
Danny K requested that Rick H contact the Austin American Statesman to submit information about our club to the car club section of the Sunday paper.
Announcements:
Rory C reported that he has information on several M100 trailers up for sale. Contact him for information.
Ward B reported that he got a great deal on insurance from American Modern Insurance Co.
