EVENT: K-C Ranch
LOCATION: Waco, TX
DATE: 13 May 2022

The date was May 13, 2022, and once again we had another great event at the K-C Ranch near Waco and there was a good turnout for both the axis and the allies having good numbers on the field. Friday's weather was pleasant however due to two collisions and the road construction on I-35 it was a very long trip but worth it. I set up a small camp and went over to the Beer Garden where a dinner of sausage and bread was waiting. Barry K. not only provides us with a beautiful place to relax, swim, fish, fight, and just enjoy seeing the landscape he cooks and offers libations. The night started warm but at around 0200 hrs. there was some rain for about half an hour and shortly after that, a strong wind hit, were before daylight, there was no sign it ever rained. The Longhorns did make a raid on one of the camps but there was no damage just funny a story of how one of the cows tried to overturn a cot.

Saturday morning breakfast and coffee were once again served and afterward, the safety inspections were made and commander's orders were given out. Robert C. came doing a German impression with his MG34 in hand. Wayne M. drove his Farret and enjoyed riding around on some of the trails outside of the battle area and he took a lot of pictures. Charlie W. and Denny H. both brought their jeeps carrying M2 .50 Cals aboard and they were crewed with some young recruits. I believe there might have been more jeeps than any past events I've attended before. I can't give a number because I never could get a count due to their moving around so much. There was one jeep hauling a 47mm anti-tank gun that I understand managed to take out one of the objectives. As the battle took place I relaxed in the rear with the gear due to my poor health at this time. Happily, I was able to get some daydreaming time for my next project between the interruptions of the many nearby firefights that took place. Sadly due to the heat, the battle ended at around 1300 hrs.

As always the evening dinner was served at the beer garden with more libations and we enjoyed the company of like-minded folks throughout the evening. Lights went out early Saturday night due to those that stayed for the night were worn out. The moon was so bright I woke up thinking it was already daybreak but I found that it was only 0200hrs. Sunday breakfast was served and then there were Church services.
