The 72 nd Bastrop home coming Parade was held Saturday 3 August 2019. Two members of the Lone Star MVPA were present.
We had our newest member Kenneth S and his wife representing the Marine Corps League Lost Pines Leathernecks Det. 384 attend. Their Marine green M38A1 Jeep was driven by Kenneth’s wife and she was pulling a 16 foot Patriotic Decorated trailer. She was driving the lead Vehicle in the Parade. They had 10 members of their marine Corps group walking the Parade handing out small American flags. They went through several cases of flags. Almost everyone watching the parade received a Flag! Madison H drove the second vehicle his M38A1 carrying the Grand Parade Marshal LTC. Willie Pina. LTC. Pina is a well-known by the Bastrop on lookers as he has held several elected positions in the Bastrop county area. LTC. Pina stood up in the front seat of the jeep for most of the parade. He was naming people he knew as we drove by. Parade start time was 10:00 a.m... Line up and Registration was from 7:30 to 9:00 with Judging starting at 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. I do not know if we won anything or not! The Parade went well and no one was injured as far as I know.
