Start Over

We were invited to display vehicles at the Bastrop American Legion public event. It was attended by Madison H. with his M37B1, James Hy with his M1009 and trailer (with Charlie S. assisting him), and Jim H. with his M38A1. Also in attendance was Robert Ratliff with a large weapons and medical equipment display assisted by Mr. Elbert Robinson (Harris County Deputy Sheriff) and Mr. Daniel Trlicek (a volunteer for the Armed Forces Museum of Houston).

We didn’t have a lot of visitors, but the ones we did were former military veterans who were very interested in our displays, several of whom who said they suffered from PTSD and I believe benefited from the conversations. Robert R. had a lot of visitors inside the building where his display was. I received several comments on how much Robert’s display was enjoyed.

We were setup about noon but the vehicles had to leave about 1530 hours due to an approaching heavy thunderstorm. Madison H. and Jim H. made it home before the rains started but James Hy. was not so lucky. James had a tire blowout on his M1009. He and Charlie S. (with some problems) got soaked changing out the tire.

The American Legion will be sending the Lone Star MVPA a Certificate of Appreciation.
