Start Over

Thanks to everyone who participated in the parade. I don't have the official numbers but I heard that we had 12 vehicles and 3 trailers. That combined with club members, family members and guests along for the ride we had an excellent turnout considering the foggy conditions. We did loose a number of our scheduled lunch crowd but we picked up some of the Vietnam Vets and several from the TVC so we ended up with a plus number there. As you know, we are loosely joined with the Vietnam Vets at these parades and you may have also noticed that their numbers are getting less each time. Age and ailments are starting to take its toll with many of us so picking them up for the return trip is most important. Those that can still make the trek to the Capitol in most case can't do the return. As a Nam Vet in that same category I personally say thanks to everyone who gave them a ride back. When we stopped to pick them up I thought we were well out of the way of the parade elements following us but it seems that the guys with the whistles didn't share my thoughts. I haven't had that many fingers pointed and shaken at me since I was in school. For future parades we will have to continue on around the corner to the West side of the Capitol before we stop and they will just have to hike a little longer. Being Texas Independence Day, I hope everyone noticed Rick's TEXAS shirt and cowboy hat and the way, the lady that rode back with Rick made a special point to tell me what a nice guy he was.
