The Lone Star MVPA arrived in Elgin Texas around 8:00 Saturday October 26th 2013. Madison H downloaded his 1953 M38A1, willys radio Jeep at Southside Market! Madison H Checked with the owner/manager to verify we could still leave our tow trucks and trailers on the property! They were very happy to let me use the parking lot! Jim H drove his 1962 M37 from his home on Hwy 95 across from Camp Swift to Southside parking lot. Madison H and Jim H then drove to downtown Elgin and hooked-up with Mr. John Schnell, President of the Lone Star Care club of Elgin. He assigned us a Great spot in the middle of his car show across from the Club Tent. The weather turned out great all day! Madison H and Jim H visited with the people coming to the car show. Jim and Madison were in drag and had a small displays which went over well!

The car show was somewhat larger than last years! Lots of vendors and food of all kinds! We were set up with our backs to the Bar-B-Que cook-off guys who brought Jim and I some great pulled pork to nibble on during the show! Lots of old Veterans spent time with us and lots of good stories! Jim H and Madison had a visit from an old Guard buddy who had been a crew chief in our Guard unit! Some great memories. James H came by and stayed a while he was doing duty at his church! They had open house for the public!

We left the Car show and up loaded my M38A1 at the south side market. Jim and his M37 joined me at Southside Bar-B-Que! Also Claude V was in Southside and came and sat with us and watched us eat! This was the first time He and Jim had met and enjoyed the visit!

Contacts for this event was: Was Amy Miller city parks & rec 512-281-5724 but was no help in locating us a place, But she did give me Mr. Schnell’s (President Lone Star Car Club) phone number which turned out to be a great contact! Mr. John Schnell is the present president of the Elgin Lone Star Car Club. The club was disbanded two years ago but is now back up to speed. The car show will most likely continue next year also ran by Lone Star Care Club! Mr. Schnell allowed us to be inside the Car show area and gave us center stage right across from the Car clubs tent. This was a great spot and we were busy all day! This was a Good event and should be considered next year!
