A rather late parade placed on the schedule this year, the Lonestar MVPA provided support for Team RWB in their efforts to raise awareness for and provide support services for the re-integration of returning veterans in a social and athletic environment. Approximately 24 Team RWB members were present who either rode in the M35A2 or walked in front of the truck with their banners. Scott let one of the Team RWB members ride the bicycle for the event.
The staging was complete approximately 0900hrs with the parade beginning at 1000hrs. The parade meandered about 1.75 miles round-trip through the streets of downtown Round Rock. One item of note was the proximity of the crowds to the street, ie: we were required to deploy safety personnel in front of the truck at each side to assure no spectator was in danger. (Think Tour De France and crowds) At the turn point, photographs were taken of the group and a large portion of the team hopped a ride back to the staging area. When the parade was over, the entire group met for lunch at the Saltlick BBQ at the Dell Diamond.
