Event: Lockhart Parade
Date: 9 June, 2012
Location: Lockhart, Texas
Another success story, we had 10 vehicles this year with 4 new first time members. We were #66 out of 135 entries and of course we came home with the Grand Prize ribbon once again. The BBQ was the usual great and no one got hurt but a few did eat too much.

Lone Star MVPA was hornored to carry a WW2 guest and family in the Lockhart Parade. Cpl Robert C Roberts,(93 years young) 2nd Infantry Division, US Army Ranger/Scout Co. H. Mr. Roberts went a shore D-Day on Omaha Beach as a scout! His 2nd Division came ashore D+1. He was in many Campaigns, Omaha beach, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace (Battle of the Bulge) Which he recived two purple hearts and two Bronze Stars. He was also an expert machine gunner and continued on through centeral Europe into Germany! At one point 20 December 1944 the 2nd ID was attached to the 21st British Army Group. He stated "we still won even though we were attached to the limies"! The 2nd saw 303 days of Combat!

This 2nd ID received 16 unit Citations, 6 Medals of Honor, 34 Distinguished Service Crosses, 741 Silver stars, 25 Legion of Merits, 14 Soldier Medals, 5,530 Bronze Stars and 89 Air medals. They had 3,031 Killed in Action, 12,785 wounded in action and 457 wounded died of their wounds.

Next on the list is the Independence Day Event in Rosanky on 30 June and I have only had a couple of replies so far. I know it's the same weekend of National but if you can make this one please let me know.

Independence Day Parade in Lakeway is fast approaching and details will be coming out for that one soon. Still have a few details to work out. If you are planning on doing a neighborhood parade please let me know, so far I have Herb and Les at Tarrytown. I need to know who is going where and doing what so close to proper spacing can be set up in the line up. Thanks
