The Lone Star MVPA was present with three club members with vehicles at the Hog Eye Festival, held in Elgin. We were in the Car show as non-paid and therefore were not in the judging! The Event started at 8:00 AM with judging at 100 pm and awards at 4:00 PM. Our 1st location was under the trees but was not in a high traffic area! Madison H requested a new location and the head of the car show agreed. About 30 minutes later he moved us to a new location! We were very happy we were in the thick of things! Turned out to be a great location with lots of traffic! The car show was just one of the events at the Hog Eye Festival. Many of the streets were blocked off and food venders and arts and craft booths lined both sides of the streets! I would estimate about 100 classic cars and trucks. Madison H had his 1953 M37 with small display! Barry F had his Scout motorcycle with display. James H was in his 1009 with a very nice display of Iraq stuff he had collected! Barry ‘s Cycle was a big hit with all the bikers and kids! Madison H’s wife and grandkids came to eat! All the people were friendly and were glad we were there.
Madison talked to the VFW Post 6115 (Elgin) Parade chairman, Beto Reyna who requested our help at the Elgin Vet parade on Now 11th. I told him it was too short of notice and that in conflicted with the Austin Vet parade. However he should consider us for other events or request a ride with us!
This was a very lay back event with us taking turns watching the vehicles and letting the others checked out the cars at the show.
Around 4:00 PM, things slowed down and we decided to pack up.
This was a good event and I feel next year this will be a good event for more members of the club to attend!
