Date: 11/10/12 Organization: Annual Veteran's Appreciation of the Texas Czech Genealogical Society of Texas Activity: There were speakers including an Air Force Col. who flew search and rescue in Vietnam and then spent 7 1/2 years as a prisoner of war. A biographical talk about Col. Edward Kallas, a Caldwell native, who was captured with the fall of Baatan but was not subject to the Death March due to his status as a doctor, but spent the rest of the war as a POW. A one man show about a Wis. native who as a second generation Czech was the Col. in charge of an advance force that liberated western parts of Czech. at the end of the war. I gave a talk on the M274's development, capabilities, deployment and variations. I also displayed the M274A5 for the entire meeting, Nov. 9 and 10.
