The Lone Star MVPA was present at the Bastrop Vet car show with 3 vehicles. The Event started at 7:30 AM with judging at 1:00 pm and awards at 3:30 PM. Our reserved location was in the Bastrop Post office annex parking lot. This location could not have been better! The club was in a high foot traffic area. The car show was free to the public. The entry fee was $25. This event was free to the LSMVPA and our vehicles were not judged! The car show was well attended with both Hot rods and classic restored vehicles. I would estimate about 150 classic car and trucks. The attendance was very large. Madison H drove his 1953 M37, 41 miles round trip for the event. Domingo M brought the M1009. Sid M had his 1962 M37 which he drove from home. Club member Robert R from Houston had a large display of Vietnam era stuff and was busy all day with his show and tell! Robert’s dad Hub R also a club member showed up to visit! A friend of Roberts also from Houston had a WW2 display. John C a member who lives in Bastrop came by and spent some time with us. Madison H had a small Vietnam display with lots of Radio stuff! Madison H’s grandson Joey H the only Jr. LSMVPA member in the club, had his small display also! All the people were friendly and many Vet’s swapped war stories! The Bastrop Downtown Business Alliance provided coffee and Doughnuts free to the Veterans.
This was a very lay back event with us taking turns watching the vehicles and letting the others checked out the car’s and food vendors at the show.
This was a good event and the clubs mission and name were presented to lots of interested people! I feel next year this will be a good event for the club to attend! Sid M handed out club business cards to two individuals who are possible members!
