Event: Veterans Day Parade
Date: 11 November, 2011
Location: Austin, Texas

The Lone Star MVPA was represented by 22 vehicles in the Austin Veterans Parade. The congress avenue event this year was great with the good but cool weather and large audience. Madison H was assigned to haul Purple Santa for the Purple Heart Asso. Santa was Major Raymond D a Purple heart recipient of Vietnam conflict. Ed H in his jeep led the LSMVPA convoy. Ed’s Gun truck was second in the line up! In the column were two 2 1/2 ton trucks hauling full loads of people. A third 2 ½ ton truck was also in our column though not a member of the LSMVPA we were still glad to have him! He hauled some personnel also. John SS brought his 5 ton tractor and cattle trailer and was prepared to haul any over flow from the other vehicles. Bring up the rear was Rory C and his V100 armor assault car. Our Navy Jeep driven by Fred H made it all the way through the show with out any mechanical problems! Many of the club members had their families riding with them.

The crowd was very large and very up beat! I saluted many more veterans than in past Parades. This was a very well attended Veterans Parade.

We were about 10 minutes late going up on the bridge but. This did not cause any delays. We got placed and one of the few parades we did not get moved. The convoy did do the staggered formation and worked well. Rory C comment was that when turning left off congress we did a good job not blocking the parade route. No Policeman was seen with a whistle in his mouth. After returning to TXDOT parking area we drove over to Threadgills and had a great meal and lots of war stories.

The event planning by Danny K. made this a flawless operation.

There's a couple ways you can grab the shots to include:
1. From the gallery that opens with the above link, click on the left side with the smaller images and that image will appear on the right.
2. Mouse over the right image and a pop-up will display showing available sizes.
3. Select Original and it should open a BIG file
4. Do a right-click on the big image, then Save-As to your hard drive.
5. Repeat.

To move around you can hit the Escape button and it should bring you back to the gallery. OR.... at the top of the huge image is a set of arrows. Click the ones pointing right and it will scroll through the images. Again, right-click/save-as. You can also set the size from there. XL is good for viewing.

If you have questions, let me know. The Black&White film will be a bit longer and very few images were shot.

Please give Scott S. credit if you post it on-line anywhere.
