Event: 36 th MVPA International Convention
Date: 3-6 August, 2011
Location: Ervin J. Nutter Center Dayton Ohio

The Lone Star MVPA members present were Madison H., Toby C, Carlos M (surplus vendor) Rick E (East Texas MVPA outside vendor) Brent M (Jeep Parts inside vendor). The event hand out listed 112 inside vendors and 50 outside vendors. Other vendors from our are area were RAPCO and Wallace Wade tiers, New Life Canvas (Mona Roth) who I have purchased several M37 canvas cargo covers. This is a very nice lady and their canvas work is excellent.

A very nice Vietnam display which even covered the hippy movement during the war. Many individual donated photo albums were open for view! It covered all branches of the services during the war. This display was one the best I have seen. Another very nice display was presented by Marlboro Volunteers in several walk thru museum trailers. Weapons from the revolutionary war to present day weapons. The also had a complete medical display under a GP medium tent that was loaded with medical articles from Vietnam war era.

The Vehicles were as always very nice! Most being judged looked like they just came out the factory door! The Judging was tuff as usual. I herd several comments about headlights that were not original. Pickie pickie! Several people I talked to commented that what is needed is a class of vehicles that are in work! To be judged as the restoration progresses from show to show! This way the new guys would not feel left out!

The Awards dinner was held in the Air Force Museum. Brent M won a first prize for one of his vehicles! One individual won 4 awards for four of his vehicles! This individual owns over 30 military vehicles. The food was fair the service was good the dessert was great! The Museum was great I wished I had more time to see it all! The museum is so large it would take two days to see it all. Three days if you read all the History and watch all the TV documentation.

My wife took a ladies Day out tour. The bus picked her up at 9:30 am and brought her and all the stuff she bought back at 2:30 pm. I had to take her to the Motel so she could rest up for the Awards dinner that night!

I drove round trip 2420 miles to Dayton Ohio back to Home! Gas prices were around 3.59 per gallon most of the trip. The highways were littered with truck tire debris and the roads were good until Kentucky and Ohio. Motel was all along the interstate highways and was priced around $90. Per night.
