An open house for the 1/23 Marines scheduled for deployment was held on 13 September from 0900 to 1200 hours at Camp Mabry.

We showed up about 0800 and waited till 0915 to set up on the parade field for the open house. Several USMC vehicles and MVPA vehicles were on hand for a good display of current and past military vehicles. G Company provided a great display of items including weapons, shaving kits, surgical instruments, radios, and other military items. With the set up complete the open house started about 1000 hours. The USMC conducted an opening ceremony which was followed by a G Company demonstration of Maring Corps unifirms and weapons during WWII Pacific operations. The demonstration ended with a firepower demonstration. Following the demonstration, two USMC Blackhawk Helecopters landed for the event. A BBQ lunch was served to all participants at 1230.
