This is an annual event that the club has attended for the past ten years. As in the past we acted as guards in uniform with helmets, equipment (LBE) and weapons. This is a solemn event of reading of the names of the fallen men and women who gave their all. Unfortunately, no photos. The weather did cooperate although it was hot and muggy. The organizers were most appreciative of us being there. All of us feel the pride and privilege of being a part of it.
The only noted problem was Jim H had purchased a new vehicle and was still unfamiliar with the security features and promptly locked himself out of the vehicle (a push button start type). A call to my wife brought an extra set of keys. While I waited, a young high school graduate (she was the bell ringer for the names read) stayed with me for a good while. I thanked her and told she didn't have to stay so she left. Not five minutes later she showed up again saying she just didn't feel right leaving a veteran alone. We still have some Patriots! She departed once my wife arrived and I thanked her again.
A special thanks to the staff and youth volunteers who helped distribute over 100 American Flags and Buddy Poppies to everyone attending.
