This is an annual event we have participated in for many years. The theme for this year was ‘Women Military Veterans’. As such the two jeeps carried one military veteran woman. The ladies were quite personable as we had plenty of time for conversation. As usual the Smithville residents showed up in force. There had been a forecast of possible storms but fortunately didn’t happen. The parade always has a color guard in front but this year they had another tasking. The organizer asked if we could carry the colors since they couldn’t find anyone else. So we lashed the colors to be bed of Madison’s M37 truck bed and they were very elated that we accomplished this.
Madison took 1st Place Military Veterans Award and Les took 1st Place Military Vehicle Award. As we don’t get to see Les often, we had a good time catching up.
