We have participated in every Texas Independence Day parade in Austin for at least the last 23 years. The only year we didn't parade was when the City of Austin cancelled the event in 2021 over covid concerns.
This year we fielded ten vehicles, including an M38A1, four M1009s (one with an M416 trailer), an M37, Barry's battle wagon, an M35A2, an M813A1 and an M931A2.
Members participating were Jim H, Scott P, Kelly P, Andy P, Caitlin C, David C, Sam R, Madison H, Barry F, Kyle P, and Rory C. Several friends and family members also rode along. As usual, tours of the trucks were given to youngsters prior to the parade starting.
The parade itself hasn't recovered from the covid years, the participants used to cover the entire Congress bridge; this year we barely covered 1/3 of it. Spectators were a bit sparse too. Hopefully the event will spring back in the years to come.
