This is another annual event we attend. This year was kinder to us in the weather arena as it was quite cooler compared to last year. The POW camp is a treasure trove of the camp during the World War II years with pictures, artifacts, displays and one section of the barracks adorned as it was by prisoners incarcerated. This event was attended also by re-enactors representing, German, Italian, Russian, British and U.S. camp settings. Most years have a weapons demo firing, but alas, not this year. Thanks to Les, we had a large canopy cover for shade. We had quite a few folks genuinely interested in our vehicles; a couple that talked with each of us over a half hour. And of course the young kids were in awe as a lot of moms took pictures while they ‘drove’ the jeep. Barry had his excellent display on Gen Montgomery inside of the barracks where folks saw him first. With his vast knowledge of Monty and the British Army he was able to keep visitors entertained on the history and significance of the POW history at this former garrison. Barry spent most of the time in the barracks as he had a steady stream of visitors. As Les lives a considerable distance away we seldom get together more than a couple times a year, we had a good time catching up and reminiscing.
