General Business . . .

q       Meeting brought to order at 1915 by Danny K

q       General Scribner and the museum are looking for people to assemble some 200 plastic models to be displayed at some point in time in the museum. Contact General Scribner for more information.

q       Minutes were accepted with the exception on the date of the meeting.

q       Treasurer’s Report

q       As of 20 December 2000, there were 40 paid members and the Club account was accepted. There were also 27 memberships that have been paid for 2001 or beyond.

q       Cost on the new Club koozies came to $284.15.

q       Scott asked to purchase new notebooks for the 2001 business books. Passed.

q       He also asked to write a check to the engravers for work done, $22.87. Passed.

q       The Club web-site will contain a section on past presidents from 1988.

q       The Club wants to extend lifetime memberships to the founder Milburn L and Co-founder Claude V for their outstanding jobs in starting and maintaining the Club. A motion was given and a second. Passed.

q       Jim W brought up the subject of using Club funds to purchase a Club owned vehicle. The possible answer is yes, but there are still the logistical problems with Club ownership. Who would drive it? Where would it be stored? Who would maintain it? Liability? Etc, etc. But anything’s possible.

q       New membership rosters will be available soon. One time in March or April after all the memberships stop coming in. All members who have access to the Internet and have an e-mail address needs to contact Scott S at willys_m38a1@yahoo.com .

q       Bill B pointed out the fact that if you served at any point during the Korean War; the ROK was issuing a medal to all American soldiers who had served during that time. It has been authorized.

q       In exchange for the use of the meeting room here in the museum, the Club has purchased a lifetime membership. A plaque will be displayed in the main hall for all to see.

q       Jim W brings up a point about some of the wording in some of the handouts. This wording may offend some of the current members or could discourage new members from signing up.

Old Business . . .

q       Blue Santa toy run was held in the early part of December. Scott attended with his jeep complete with machine gun and all. He took two boxes to east Austin.

q       There was a workday at the VFW Post 8985 to build a fence for the wheel chair ramp.

q       Jim W did not attend the San Antonio Veteran’s Day parade because it was cold and wet. However, it wasn’t on 11 Nov 00 because of another conflict and was a week late. The city did promise to hold it on Veteran’s Day in 2001.

q       The Texas V. Texas A&M game display was a big hit. All worked out well.

q       The Club has a new web address and web master. The new address is www.lonestar-mvpa.org. Scott S will update the site on a regular basis with most of the updates taking place on the upcoming and past events lists. If you have anything you want placed on the site contact Scott.

 New Business . . .

q       Nominations Committee and the election of officers for 2001. The current slate of officers was recommended. Nominations motioned and seconded. Motion passed 10 – 1. Voting “No” was Scott (humorously).

q       Every year the Club recognizes the member who makes and represents the Club at the most events. This year’s recipient of the Lone Star MVPA Award is Scott S. He attended most if not all of the Clubs events in 2000. Congratulations Scott.

q       What events does the Club formally attend? Today, the Club receives enough materials to attend an event every weekend. So if you’re interested in doing an event or have an event the Club would be interested in doing, come to the meetings and state your view. The Club officially had participated in 23 events in 2000.

q       Expert Driver Program award from national. If you have received one of these awards, your name will be posted on the Club web-site for you accomplishment.

q       Upcoming Events will be the ones we did in 2000 plus new ones for 2001.
