Lone Star Military Vehicle Preservation Association Meeting Minutes

 17 September 2008

 Call to Order - 1919 hrs.

 Members present included:
  Rick H, Claude V, Ward B, Charlie W, John A, Scott S, Madison H, John S, Fred H, Sam R.

 Introductions - Guests, New Members: Craig S (not present)

Quartermaster Report: None

Treasurer's Report: John S presented the treasury report.


Web Site Update: John S presented the Web Site Report. He is planning on expanding the Member Vehicles section of the web site to give each member a page to show their vehicle(s). He requests that each member send him pictures and a write-up of their vehicles. Pictures should not exceed 250 KB in size. He additionally request feedback on the project. He also requested recent pictures of member vehicles for the featured vehicle section of the web site.


Newsletter Update: Rick H reported that the Fred Fox Memorial Newsletter and the September Newsletter was mailed Tuesday, 16 September. Request that he be furnished a copy of all after action reports. Still working on the Directory.

Upcoming Events:


 • • Driftwood: Cancelled.

 • • Salerno Event, Camp Swift 18-19 October. This is an individual event not sponsored by the MVPA. Register on line at http://www.texasmilitaryforcesmuseum.org/salerno65/salerno.htm

• • Veterans Day Tree Planting 8 November. The City of Austin will hold the second annual tree planting in honor of Veterans on Saturday, November 8th. They have requested military vehicles to display at the event. The event will be in Rosewood Park, located at Rosewood and Pleasant Valley starting at 9:30am and should last a couple of hours. Rick H reported that he will attend.

• • Hutto Veterans Day Display. John SS reported that the event this year will be scaled back due to manpower. Additional information will be sent later.

• • Austin Veterans Day Parade, 11 November. The annual Veterans Day parade is scheduled for 11 November at the Congress Street Bridge. Fred H requested maximum support for this year’s parade. Additional information will be sent later.

• • Cedar Park. The school district has again requested our participation in this annual event. John S will coordinate and furnish additional information.

• • Ed H proposed a swap meet at the Quonset Hut where members could bring and sell military items. He has requested membership participation and feedback. No date has been selected for the event. Please send your feedback to: qhut@yahoo.com .
