Lone Star Military Vehicle Preservation Association Meeting Minutes

21 May 2008

Call to Order - 1918 hrs.

Members present included:
Danny K, Claude V, Rory C. Madison H, Jeff M, Clint D, Rick H, John K, Bill B, John S, Fred H, Jeff L, Mitch C.

Introductions - Guests, New Members: Sam R. was introduced by Clint D. He lives in Cedar Park and is currently looking for a vehicle.

Quartermaster Report: None

Treasurer's Report: None

Web Site Update: John SS presented the Web Site Report. John SS requested more event pictures and after action reports from past events. He requested that the following guidelines be followed when submitting pictures.
1. Each picture submitted should not exceed 300K. Please cut pictures down before submission.
2. Number your pictures sequentially starting with 001.
3. Submit thumbnail pictures of each photo numbered sequentially starting with 001s.

Newsletter Update: Rick H. presented the Newsletter Report. The next newsletter is scheduled for June. Madison H. reported that he has an article about his uncle in Pearl Harbor that he will submit. John SS. requested that a Newsletter button be placed on the web site instead on the current links. John K. and Jeff L. requested that the on line version of the newsletter be converted to PDF format. Rick H agreed to make the conversion.

Recent Events:

• Muster Day (19-20 April): Danny K. reported that Muster Day was a huge success. Our location on the second day was much better than the first. Next year we will try to relocate to a more central position.

• Lakeway USO (24-26 April): John K. reported that this event was outstanding. Everything went as scheduled and the USO show was great. Approximately 300 WWII veterans attended.

• Temple Air Show (2-4 May): Madison H. reported that the event was a success. The Viet Nam reenactment was successful and enjoyed by the guests. John S. reported that his special guest 92 year old Pearl Harbor survivor Sherb S. enjoyed the event and treated well by everyone at the show.

Upcoming Events:
Danny K. outlined upcoming events. Danny will send out additional information as it becomes available and information will be posted on the club web site. Events included:

• Memorial Day Events (24-26 May): There are no organized club events this year. Danny K. has emailed the members a consolidated schedule of events. Danny K invited all members to assist in the placement of flags at Cook Walden Funeral Home on Saturday starting at 0900. Be sure to bring gloves and a long screw driver to pre punch holes for the flags. Services scheduled for Monday start at 1030 and are followed by hamburger cookout starting at 1:00.

• Fort Worth Militaria Show (30 May – 1 June): This is an annual show at the Amon Carter Exhibit Hall in Fort Worth.

• Lockhart Parade (14 June): Meet at Danny K’s at 0730. We plan on departing at 0830 for Lockhart. The parade starts at 1000. After the parade we plan on eating BBQ then heading home.

• GI Joe National Convention in Frisco Tx. (29 June): Brian S. the Hasbro coordinator asked if we were interested in attending the convention in Frisco Tx. He was referred to the Arrow Head MVPA chapter, but if anyone is interested additional information is available at gijoeclub.com.

• Lakeway Parade (4 July): Meet in Lakeway at 0700 and be ready by 0815. Additional information will be made available as soon as we have it.

• McDade parade (TBD): Parade details will follow.

Old Business:
• Lone Star MVPA Directory: Rick H reported that 10 responses have been received form the members. Please send your pictures as soon as possible.

New Business:
• The Close Assault event at Camp Mabry is scheduled for 24-25 May. Reenactments are scheduled for Saturday at 11:00 and 2:00 and for Sunday at 11:00.
