Lone Star Military Vehicle Preservation Association Meeting Minutes

19 March 2008

Call to Order - 1925 hrs.

Members present included:
Danny K, Claude V, Rory C. John A, Madison H, Jeff M, John B, Toby C, Rick H, John K, Mark A, Herb T, John S, Fred H, Clint D, Bill B.

Introductions - Guests, New Members: None.

Quartermaster Report: Herb T presented an inventory report. The club now has new shirts with the MVPA logo in the correct position on the sleeve.

Treasurer's Report: John A. presented the treasury report. A list of all members and their dues and insurance status was circulated.

Web Site Update: : John SS presented the Web Site Report. There are still several after action reports out. John SS will request reports if not turned in one week after an event. He will also inform members of web updates. He informed the membership that if they want their vehicle featured as the vehicle of the month, send him a current photo of the vehicle, model number and year, or pick one already on the website. He will schedule the vehicle as appropriate. He also reported that the web site is getting a lot of “hits” each month and would like to schedule a discussion of the best way to take advantage of this during the Temple air show 2-4 May.
Rick H. agreed to assist with the web site.

Recent Events:
• Texas Independence Day Parade: 1 March Rory C. reported on the parade events and recommended that the club go out to eat following the event next year.

• Danny K. presented the narration script used during parades and requested that it be updated. Rory C. agreed to update the script.

Upcoming Events: Danny K. outlined upcoming events. Danny will send out additional information as it becomes available and information will be posted on the club web site. Events included:

• Brent Mullins Open House (28-29 March): Danny K. recommended that the club support this event as much as possible since it is one of the few events still close to Austin. Additional information can be found at: Mullins Jeep Parts

• Burnet Air Show (12 April): This is a one day event held at the Burnet airport. Be in place by 0800. The uniform is period correct. A BBQ grill will be furnished for those that want to bring their own meat.

• Muster/Hero’s Day (19-20 April) : This is an annual event held at Camp Mabry. This year we will be positioned around the chapel just south of the museum. Setup starts Friday at noon. Participants must pre-register and be in place by 0800 on the 19th. This year we will once again be providing some shuttle services for attendees. A schedule of events will be posted to the web site.

• Lakeway USO (24-26 April): John K will participate.

• Temple Air Show (2-4 May): This is an annual event held Friday through Sunday. Friday night there will be a fireworks show. Saturday and Sunday a Viet Nam reenactment is planned. The uniform is period correct.

Announcements:
• Jonn SS. Informed the membership that his vehicle as well as Rory C’s vehicle is in the movie Stop Loss scheduled out on 28 March.
• Danny K. announced that there will be a request for a vehicle in the Hutto area in August for a birthday party. More information will be forthcoming.

• Danny K. requested that John SS. Contact the Car Club section of the Austin American Statesman.
