Lone Star Military Vehicle Preservation Association Meeting Minutes

 20 February 2008

 Call to Order - 1905 hrs.

 Members present included:
 Danny K, Claude V, Rory C. Fred H, Madison H, Ward B, Herb T, Toby C, Rick H, John K, Robert W, Mark A, Dave D, John A, Glen V and Jeff M.

 Introductions - Guests, New Members: None.

Quartermaster Report: Herb T. presented the inventory report. New shirts are on-hand. The patch has been moved up on the sleeve. Prices for the shirts are the same, $15 each or 2 for $25.

Treasurer's Report: John A. presented the treasury report. Several members are delinquent on their dues and insurance payment.
After discussion Danny K. made a motion to set a cut off date for payment of dues and insurance to 31 March 2008. The motion was seconded and passed.
Toby C. moved that Article IV-Dues, of the club by-laws be amended to include the payment of insurance. The motion was seconded and passed.
Rory C. and John A. will coordinate to send emails to the general membership and members delinquent in payment to remind them to pay dues and insurance.

Web Site Update: : Rory C. presented the Web Site Report. The site is up to date with the information sent to John SS. However, there are still several after-action reports that have not been submitted. They include the Close Assault, San Antonio Air Show, Zilker Park Tree Planting, the UT ROTC event, Boy Scout Camporee, and the Boy Scout Parade. Please submit these reports as soon as possible.

 Newsletter: Rick H. presented the Newsletter update. The next edition of the Transfer Case is scheduled for publication at our next meeting on 16 March.

 Recent Events:
 • Longhorn District Boy Scout Camporee: Danny K. reported that the event was a success. Danny K, Madison H, Fred H, and Rick H. attended. The club has been invited back for next year.

 • Boy Scout Parade: Danny K reported that the parade was successful and that all the scouts that wanted to ride were able to ride in the vehicles that participated. The Scouts presented the club with a $150.00 check in appreciation for our participation.

 • Museum Board Meeting: Jeff M reported that the museum is planning a renovation and expansion of the museum. The project will be conducted in two phases. Phase I will be the renovation of the current facilities and Phase II will be the expansion of the museum. Additional information is available on the museum web site.

Upcoming Events: Danny K. outlined upcoming events. Danny will send out additional information as it becomes available and information will be posted on the club web site. Events included:

 • Texas Independence Day Parade: 1 March - Please arrive at the TXDOT parking lot by 0930 for a 1030 start time. Uniform is period correct. This year there is a $25 fee for the club to attend.

 • Brent Mullins Open House: 28,29 March

• Burnet Air Show - 12 April - Please report by 0800. The show hours are 0900 to 1600.

• Muster Day: 19,20 April – Muster Day is being combined with American Hero’s Day at Camp Mabry. The club will still provide the MV Taxi service as in past years, and will have a static display. The exact location of where we will set-up will be announced at a later date. Participants must register prior to the event.

• Lakeway USO - 24,25,26 April – WWII vehicles are requested. Mark A. is the POC for this event.

• Temple Air Show - 2,3,4 May – There will be a Viet Nam reenactment this year. Additional information will be sent as soon as we know.

• Ft. Worth Militaria Show - 30, 31 May, 1 June

New Business:
• Robert W. has information on a jeep for sale. Danny K will send out the information.
• Robert W. is restoring his Pig. If anyone is interested in helping, please contact him.

Announcements:
• Danny K. announced that there is a good write up of the Communications event in the quarterly museum newsletter.
 • Danny K. announced that he has a video to view after the meeting, Horses for Hero’s.
 • Dave D. announced new products including a wooden and metal 50 cal, and good prices on blank ammunition.
 • Danny K. announced that he has old generator and power supply manuals if anyone wants them.
 • Rory C. read a letter from the MVPA recognizing Toby C. for his participation and performance.
