Lone Star Military Vehicle Preservation Association Meeting Minutes

 20 August 2008

 Call to Order - 1915 hrs.

 Members present included:
  Danny K, Claude V, Rory C, Ward B, John K, John A, Mitch C, Clint D, Charlie W, Madison H, John S, Fred H, Sam R.

 Introductions - Guests, New Members: Charlie W joined up.

Quartermaster Report: Herb T not present. Rory gave latest update. All is well.

Treasurer's Report: John A. presented the treasury report. On hand funds have dipped, mainly due to insurance costs. Club has 59 members.


Web Site Update: John SS reported that the website is up to date for all items submitted. John also stated there will be a link button on our site that will take you directly to the latest electronic copy of The Transfer Case.


Newsletter Update: Rick H not present, will be publishing Fred Fox memorial edition mid-September.

 Recent Events:

 • • M1030 Recovery (August ) John SS gave a report on the trials and tribulations of bringing his “new” M1030 motorcycle back from California.

 • • Holy Deuce Movie (August 15th) John SS gave a report on vehicle and advisory assistance with a project by an independent movie company. Participating were three members and one M35, all of whom will appear in the film.



Upcoming Events:
Danny K. outlined upcoming events. Danny or other designee will send out additional information as it becomes available and information will be posted on the club web site. Events included:

 • • G Co CMP qualification shoot (last weekend in August) Camp Swift. This will be a qualifying match for those who wish to make CMP purchases.

 • • Salerno +65 (October 18th) Camp Swift. In addition to the WWII participants representing all periods are welcome for display, inc. vehicles.

• • Operation Bulldog (October 31st –November 2nd) Ft Hood. Annual “big truck” event to support charity airsoft match.

• • Gonzalez Parade (September) We will not be participating this year

• • Veterans’ Day Tree Planting (November 8th) Austin, Rosewood Park. This event has requested vehicles again.

• • Veterans’ Day Parade (November 11th) Austin. We will participate, and have been requested to carry Veterans again.

New Business:
• • Treasurer- John A is stepping down as club Treasurer. John SS volunteered to take over those duties, unanimously approved by members present. Our thanks to John A for his long and faithful discharge of this duty.

• • Movie Vehicle Rentals – There have been numerous requests from varying sources for vehicles to be used in movies. All requests will be forwarded to John SS to coordinate with the requestor regarding type/era of vehicle and what we have available should members choose to participate.

• • • Supply Line listing- The club listing in Supply Line magazine was dropped over a clerical mistake. That is resolved, info will be back in the next issue.
