20 June 2007

Call to Order - 1913 hrs.

Members present included: Danny K, Claude V, Fred H, Madison H, John SS, Herb T, Toby C, Jason C, Rick H, John K, John A, Jeff M, Robert W, and Rory C

Introductions - Guests, New Members: None

Quartermaster Report: Herb T presented an inventory report. All is well. We still have not found an affordable source for .50cal rounds (our biggest seller) so will look into linked 7.62/.30 in the meantime.

Treasurer's Report: John A. presented the treasury report. On hand funds are back up from dues payments and some donations

Web Site Update: Jeff L absent. The website is not up to date (last update April ’07)

Recent Events:

· Military Treasures Day, Camp Mabry (May 19^th) - John SS and Danny K gave reports. John SS, in addition to being on hand to give information, also brought to the event a sword he had found as a child in Cornwall. The sword was tentatively dated to the 1600’s. An article on this appeared in the Austin newspaper.

· Memorial Day, Oakhill (May 26^th) - Danny K reported that several LSMVPA members, as well as VFW members, participated in planting flags at the cemetery prior to Memorial Day, and retrieving them after the day.

· Memorial Day, Pflugerville (May 28^th) - No vehicle attendance this year. Danny K reported that this was a communication error on the part of the organizers, who failed to invite or communicate with us this year. They have asked that in future years an invitation to participate be assumed.

· Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall (June 1/2/3^rd ) - Danny K gave a report. Several members participated on different levels. Three vehicles (jeep types) were on display for the duration. Again, communication cut into this, the organizers failed to return calls about other vehicles participating.

· Lockhart Parade (June 9^th) – Madison H, Danny K and others gave reports and comments on this event. Large group participation with 4 jeeps, 2 M37’s, 1 M35, and 1 M813. The group met at Kaiserville and convoyed to Lockhart. Parade was well attended and LSMVPA won the Grand Prize ribbon. The group ate lunch together afterwards.

· Ft Worth Militaria Show (June 15/16/17^th) – Claude V gave a report. Lots of trade tables, prices were high, very few vehicles and little room for more had there been any.

Upcoming Events: Danny K. outlined upcoming events. Danny will send out additional information as it becomes available and information will be posted on the club web site. Events included:

· MVPA National Convention (June 28/29/30^th) – Many members plan to attend.

· Lakeway Parade (July 4^th) – We will participate in the parade, but no one was interested in setting up static display later in the day. Meet at Swensons, 1202 Lakeway Dr no later than 0715 to load up. Group must be on the golf course for lineup no later than 0745. Drag event.

· Northwest Hills Parade (July 4^th) – Several members will participate in this event in their neighbourhood.

· VFW Post 8925 Celebration (July 4^th) – Danny K’s VFW post is holding an event/dance from noon to 7pm. Cost is $5. Contact Danny or call 512-243-8011 for details.

· McDade Parade (July 14th) – Judging is at 9am, parade starts at 10:30. Further details will be sent out later.

· Club Social/Convoy – Sometime in August? To be discussed.

Old Business:

· American Legion Field Guns – New tires turned out to be quite expensive. We will look into this further to see what else the gun(s) need to be towed by our group in parades and if the AL is interested in proceeding
