Lone Star Military Vehicle Preservation Association Meeting Minutes

21 March 2007

Call to Order - 1913 hrs. 

Members present included:  Scott S, Ward B, Danny K, Fred H, Madison H, John SS,  John K, Toby C, Rick H, John A, Mitch C, Jeff M, Claude V, Tim W, and Rory C

Introductions - Guests, New Members:    Mitch C, who has already participated in Hutto Veterans Day 2006, joined up.  No vehicle yet. 

Quartermaster Report:  Scott presented report for absent Herb T.  All is well.  Several T-shirts have been sold.  Our supply of .50 inert rounds was expended at the Boy scout parade, new supply is being ordered.

Treasurer's Report:   John A. presented the treasury report.  On hand funds are back up from dues payments and some donations

Web Site Update:  Jeff L absent.  Website is up to date.  Scott S advised that the software we use for our site will not be supported by the manufacturer after this year.   The old software is difficult at best anyway.  Scott is investigating newer software that will convert what we currently have and be easier to use.  He will work with Jeff L to accomplish this during the year

Recent Events: 

·        Texas Independence Day Parade (March 3rd)  Danny gave a report .  An excellent turnout with 12 jeeps, 1 M37, 1 Deuce, and 1 5-ton.

·        All Era Militaria Show (March 3rd)  Madison gave a report.  A little bigger and better than last year.  Only one vehicle on display.

·        Brent Mullins Open House (March 16/17th)  Danny and John K gave reports.  Several members attended/participated.  Fewer vendors this year, but reenactment bigger and more coordinated than before, biggest one yet.

 

Upcoming Events:  Danny K. outlined upcoming events.  Danny will send out additional information as it becomes available and information will be posted on the club web site.  Events included:
 

·       

·        Boyscout Camporee (March 24th)  In Webberville, static display for the Scouts.  Lunch will be provided.  Start time 2:30pm.  Several members and vehicles have committed so far.

·        Lometa Diamondback Jubilee (March 31st) One day, 8a-5p.  Clint D will be attending, no others known as of yet.

·        Muster Day, Camp Mabry (April 13/14/15th)  Setup can begin at noon on Friday.  First person to arrive, check in with Jeff H at the museum.  Some meals are being served by the Guard, however LSMVPA will do our own lunch cooking on sat/sun due to irregular activities, etc.  Members are asked to toss a donation into the bomb to help cover costs of food.  Club will bring popups for shade.  ***Important!  Background info for all participants must be submitted at least 5 days before the event***

·        Burnet Airshow (March 14th)  LSMVPA will not be attending this event as a group.

·        Doolittle Raiders Reunion (April 18th-21st)  In San Antonio.  No club participation planned.

·        Buda Lions Parade (April 28th)  8am showup for a 9am start.  Danny will post details.

·        Cedar Park LEEF Parade/Carshow (April 28th)  No details/times yet.

·        Fiesta Parade, San Antonio (April 27/28)  No info yet.

·        Temple Airshow (May 4/5/6)  We plan the usual large club participation.

·        MVPA Nationals (June 28/29/30)  Several members planning to attend, though none with vehicles as of yet.  Toby C has been requested by planners to present a board of club members/vehicles for display at the show.  Members wishing to participate need to send Toby a 5x7 picture of themselves (old or recent) and/or vehicles.

 

Several events, including Goliad and Smithville parades, have been turned down due to conflicts with other scheduled commitments.

 

Old Business: 

·        National MVPA Insurance program – Waiting on a clear answer from National before we cancel clubs own policy for a rebate.

·        Museum on Camp Mabry is still looking for volunteers.  You can work as little as 4 hours a month.

·        In order to complete an accurate club roster, an “end date” will be set for membership renewal, after which non-renewers will be dropped from the rolls and email list.  An email is forthcoming to set this date.

 

New Business:

 

·        At the Texas Association of Vietnam Veterans annual banquet, LSMVPA was presented with a Certificate of Merit for support given at events.

·        Robin Update – Danny gave an update on Robin’s USAF career.  Robin sends her regards to all.

 

Announcements:  

·        Possible new member owns a Humber Pig APC.
