Lone Star Military Vehicle Preservation Association Meeting Minutes

20 September 2006

Call to Order - 1916 hrs.

Members present included: Scott S, Danny K, Claude V, Fred H, Madison H, John SS, Herb T, John K, Clint D, Jim, Rick H, and Rory C.

Guests/New Members: Jim, active some years ago, was welcomed back.

Quartermaster Report: QM position is still vacant. Scott S. presented an inventory report. New T-shirts are in. All is well.

Treasurer's Report: John A. was unable to attend; Scott S gave an update on the treasury and active membership (55).

Newsletter: Jeff L. was unable to attend. New edition is in the works.

Web Site Update: John K presented report, up to date.

Recent Events:

· All Era Militaria Show in Belton (August 19) Danny gave a report on this growing show

· Manor Lions Fest parade (September 9) Scott gave a report on the parade, which was small this year with only 12 entries. Two LSMVPA vehicles attended

· Angel Flight Car Wash (September 9) Scott gave a report, he was the only attendee

· UKPP Movie, frmr Kelly AFB (September 2-8) Rory gave a report on the Paramount movie he, John SS, and some of their vehicles had been hired for.

Upcoming Events: Danny K. outlined upcoming events. Danny will send out additional information as it becomes available and information will be posted on the club web site. Events included:

· Central Texas Collectables show, Camp Mabry (September 23)

· Driftwood Parade (September 29) Meet at the Albertsons at the Y in Oakhill, depart at 0800.

· Gonzales “Come and Take It” parade (October 7) Limited to 8 vehicles, 6 of whom have volunteered at this time 06:30 departure from Kaiserville, or meet in Gonzales for a 0800 staging.

· Midland CAF airshow and Vietnam re-enactment (October)

· Elgin Hogeye Festival (October)

· Hutto Parade cancelled this year.

· Hutto Hippoplex Car Show (October)

· Ft Hood Wargames. Three vehicles scheduled to attend (October 20-22)

· Lackland AFB airshow (November 4/5)

· Veterans Day display, Hutto (November 10)

· Veterans day parade, Austin (November 11) Club will donate $50 to Veterans Parade Committee. {Danny K – Motion, John K – 2^nd, vote- unanimous}.

Old Business:

· Solargizers- John SS received the surplus Solargizers ordered by members during and after the last meeting, these were distributed.

New Business:

· Elections

o September – Appoint Nominating Chair/Canvas current positions

o October – Nominating Committee

o November – Slate to be presented

o December – Vote/Install new officers

· John SS talked about future movie possibilities involving club member vehicles, now that we have the contacts.

Announcements:

· San Antonio chapter is still working on organization. Several LSMVPA members have offered assistance.
