Lone Star Military Vehicle Preservation Association Meeting Minutes

18 January 2006 

Call to Order - 1912 hrs. 

Members present included:  Scott S., Jeff M., Danny K., Ward B., Rick H., John K., Claude V., Herb T., Madison H., Jeff L., Tim W., Clint D., Fred H., John A., Glen V., John SS., Mark M., and Rory C. 

Quartermaster Report:  Herb T. presented a complete inventory report. 

Treasurer's Report:  The Treasurer's Report was presented by Jeff M.  Year-to-date income was noted along with year-to-date expenses.  Membership numbers were reported along with the estimated percentage of members of the chapter who also belong to the National MVPA.  Jeff M. will contact those members coming up for membership renewal.  John A. agreed to take over as Treasurer from today.

Newsletter:  Tim W. delivered the Winter 2005 newsletter at the meeting, his last as Editor.  He was recognized by the membership for the excellent work he has done during his tenure.  Jeff L. has agreed to take over as Editor. 

Web Site Update:  Scott S. reported that updates have been made.   John K. has agreed to take over responsibility as Webmaster from today.

Recent Events:  Danny K. presented an after action report on the Monster Truck Show in San Antonio (January 14).  “Ownership” of this event has now been passed on to the Alamo Chapter.  LSMVPA will continue to participate as guests.

Upcoming Events: Scott S. and Danny K. outlined upcoming events.  Danny K. will send out additional information as it becomes available and information will be posted on the club web site.  Events included:
* Austin Gun Show - January 21/22
* Hanger Dance in Fredericksburg - January 22
* Boy Scout Report to the State Parade - February 4

* Texas Independence Day Parade - March 4
* All Era Militaria Show - March 18/18
* Brent Mullins Open House - March 24/25 (fri-sat)

* Muster Day – First weekend in April

* Burnet Airshow – April 8

 

Old Business:  Designs for new club T-shirts were discussed. 

Fred H. gave an update on the Trail Ride.

Dave D. gave an update on the All Era Militaria show.

New Business:  Claude V. presented information on the State of Kansas refusing to register or title preserved armoured vehicles or allow them on public roadways.  There was discussion on membership concerns as to whether MVPA National is taking an interest in this event and the possibility of it spreading to other states or encompassing other types of vehicles.  Claude will follow the issue and report back.

Glen V. gave an informative presentation on the EE-8 field telephone and it’s operation.

Announcements:   John SS. made a short acceptance speech for his MVPA Award.
