Lone Star Military Vehicle Preservation Association
Meeting Minutes - 21 September 2005
Call to Order - 1915 hrs.
Members present included: Scott S., Jeff M., Danny K., Rick H., John K., Rory
C., Herb T., Madison H., Claude V., Clint D., Fred H., Jeff L., John S., Tim W.,
and Ward B.
Treasurer's Report: The Treasurer's Report was presented by Jeff M.
Year-to-date income was noted along with year-to-date expenses. Membership
numbers were reported along with the estimated percentage of members of the
chapter who also belong to the National MVPA. Jeff M. presented the latest
membership roster and will send it out to the membership. A short discussion of
the club insurance was conducted.
Quartermaster Report: Herb T. reported that the stock levels had not changed
since the last meeting.
Newsletter: Tim W. presented the latest newsletter and is on track with the next
one.
Web Site Update: Scott S. reported that updated have been made to include the
latest events.
Recent Events: John S. presented talked about his recent activity following
Hurricane Katrina. Rory C. presented the after action report for the Manor
Parade, and Madison H. talked about the Rosankey Show.
Upcoming Events: Scott S. and Danny K. outlined upcoming events. Events
included:
· Driftwood Parade -24 September. Members present decided to cancel the event
due to weather.
· Fund Raiser - Camp Mabry - 29 September at the Camp Mabry Museum. The Col.
Simpson request approximately 10 individuals dressed in period correct uniforms,
assistance during the event, which is scheduled 6 to 8 pm on 29 September. John
K. will contact members of G Company for support.
· Muster Day - 1,2 October at Camp Mabry has been cancelled
· Gonzales Come and Take It Parade - 1 October. Danny K requested that members
be in place by 0900 for the 1030 parade. Danny K. will send out additional
information and details later.
· Oak Hill Cruise and Blues - 8 October at the Oak Hills Church. This is a good
family type event. There is a $10 entry fee. Scott S. will send out additional
information.
· Fort Worth Gun Show - 8, 9 October
· Hutto Parade - 15 October.
· Texas Willys Rally - 22 October in Burton Texas
· Elgin Hog Eye Festival - 22 October.
· Veterans Day Parade - 11 November.
· Bandera Event - 12 November.
Old Business
Claude V. provided an update on the Elgin exhibit.
New Business:
Danny K. has provided coordination for a M151 water pump for the museum. Claude
V. provided an update on the MVPA Board of Directors candidates. He requested
that the membership forward questions for the candidates to him. He will contact
the candidates to find out additional information and will present his findings
at the next meeting.
Announcements
Tim W. donated a donation box for use at events. Danny K. asked that members
needing a battery to contact him for assistance. Membership can get a discounted
price on batteries. Scott S. announced that the stencil machine has been
received, but is not working due to missing parts. Claude V. requested that
members contact him with By-Law changes for the MVPA.
