**DRAFT** Call to
Order – 7:24 p.m. General introductions were made and potential member Tony M. was introduced. Members in attendance included: Jim H., Danny K., Scott S., Jeni L., Claude V., Jim W., Jeff M., John K., Herb T., Ward B., Rick H., and Tim W. The
minutes of the March 2004 meeting were reviewed and approved. The
Treasurer’s Report was presented by Jeff M.
No problems or concerns were raised regarding financials. Year-to-date
income was noted along with year-to-date expenses. Membership numbers were reported along with the estimated
percentage of members of the chapter who also belong to the National MVPA.
The Treasurer reported 56 members with 15 of them not belonging to
National which gives the club National participation of approximately 73%.
The addition of two new members was mentioned. Scott S.
updated the club on Purehost, the new web hosting company for the club website.
Tim W. and Jeni L. provided an update on efforts regarding the latest
issues of the newsletter. After
action reports were provided on recent events.
The Brent Mullins Open House was described in detail with the club having
a strong attendance at a great event involving weapons and vehicle
demonstrations. The Burnet
Air Show was highlighted and it was reported that the club turned out in force
with jeeps, Scott S.’s Colson bicycle, and his mini-jeep. Of note, was the flipping of a Wild Cat that delayed the show
and the heavy rain which brought it to an early end. Upcoming
events were outlined by Danny K. and club members based on available
information. Jim W. made a strong
pitch for participation in the Fiesta Flambeau Parade in San Antonio.
Details were provided on this event as well as the Central Texas Air
Show, the Great Western Show, and the Gatesville event set for May 29th.
Also discussed were the Lockhart event, the National Convention, the
Victory Christian Center Celebration of Heroes, Independence Day parades, and
the McDade Parade in July. The club
expressed no interest in participating in the Lockhart event. It
was further noted that as in the past additional information will be provided at
future meetings, on the web site, and by email as needed. National
news was reported and generally discussed with primary focus on the convention
and encouragement to submit photographs to National for inclusion in Supply
Line. Non-dues
revenue was discussed. An update was provided on the success of the machinegun
rounds. Prices were confirmed for
the koozies at $3.00 each. Disposable
cameras were discussed as well. A
motion was made, seconded, and discussed to place another T-shirt order. Old
business was addressed. The club
members discussed the success of the Saturday, March meeting and barbecue at
Kaiserville, and it was suggested that similar meetings be held once or twice a
year. New
business was discussed. An
invitation was made to attend a local gun collectors meeting in May to hear the
story of a son’s discovery of WWII information and items related to his
father’s military wartime service. An
update was provided on club member and USAF pilot in training Robin P. Announcements
and items for the good of the club followed. A
motion was made, seconded, and unanimously passed to adjourn.
