Introductions were made by members in attendance.

Minutes of the May 21, 2003 meeting were reviewed and unanimously approved.

The Treasurer’s Report was presented by Jeff M.  Year-to-date income was noted along with year-to-date expenses.  Income was reported to have exceeded expenses.  No problems or concerns were raised regarding financials.  Membership numbers were reported along with the estimated percentage of members of the chapter who also belong to the national MVPA.  The percentage was estimated to be approximately 81%.  It was further noted that this percentage will be reported to National Headquarters.

Tim W. and Jeni L. provided a brief update on continuing efforts with the newsletter “The Transfer Case” and indicated that the next issue was in initial stages of production.  Articles were solicited from the members in attendance with particular emphasis on the “War Stories” section to be added as a regular feature.

No website updates or modifications were reported.  Submission of after action reports and photographs for posting on the web site were encouraged.  Scott S. was once again commended for his outstanding work on the web site.

No after action reports were presented since no club events took place after the May 21st meeting.  A brief overview of the Nimitz Museum Island Assault program was provided and members were encouraged to take part if interested.

Upcoming events were outlined by Danny K. with particular focus on a number of events surrounding Independence Day celebrations.  The various upcoming events were discussed along with related details and logistical information.  Events covered included the 15th Annual God and Country Celebration on June 29, the Lakeway and Wimberley Independence Day parades, and the McDade Watermelon Festival on July 12.  Lewis S. provided details on the Wimberley event.  Tim W. provided an update and information on the July 5 “Keep ‘Em Rolling” Exhibit at studio2gallery.  Members in attendance were also reminded of the plans for holding a club convoy in Wimberley on August 23, 2003.  It was once again noted that Camp Mabry’s Muster Day has been scheduled for October 4-5, 2003.  It was further noted that additional information on upcoming events can be found on the club web site and will be provided at future meetings as well as by email.

Tim W. updated the membership on recent discussions with David Dady of Dady Insurance Agency and  the related paperwork for obtaining club insurance coverage for members participating in parades and other events.

A brief update was presented on national news.  Members were encouraged to vote in the national Board of Directors elections and it was reported that Linda Haas from the Arrowhead Chapter was a candidate.  The 28th Annual National MVPA Convention in Alameda, California scheduled for July 24-26 was mentioned along with the fact that two members from the Lone Star Chapter were planning to attend.

Non-dues revenue options were revisited with an update on the successful disposable camera sales and an explanation of the delay in obtaining temporary tattoos for sale at air shows and static displays.

There was no old business to discuss.

New business and items for the good of the club followed along with announcements.  John K. reported on the purchase of a jeep by Jeff H. of the Nimitz Museum and a significant vehicle parts find that may lead to the availability and sale of parts of all kinds and all dates.  Plans for the August convoy were revisited.  Barry F. announced intentions for a USO style show at Camp Mabry during the Camp Mabry Muster in October.  Danny K. commented on the Antique Tractor Show in Stonewall scheduled for June 28.  Toby C. reported on safety concerns related to taking rings off while working on vehicles and provided evidence in support of this precaution – a badly burned finger and melted jewelry.  Lewis S. announced that he is still looking for a WWII Navy jeep in reasonable condition for sale or trade.

A motion was made, seconded, and passed to adjourn.

The meeting adjourned at 8:13 p.m.
