New Members - John A and son Joseph |
The meeting was called to order at 7:15pm
General Business...
| Introductions were made by the club to new members John A. and his son
Joseph. John has had an interest in older motorcycles and found out
about the club and activities at the recent San Marcos air show.
Welcome! |
| Minutes were read and accepted from the last meeting with one date change
having been corrected. |
| The Treasury report was given and accepted. The club has 60 members
of which 75% are National MVPA members as well. YTD income stands at
($ 63.35) with the majority of the deficit related to the larger
contributions made by the club this year. |
Old Business...
| Hutto/Elgin/Kelly AFB/ etc were all WET events. Danny indicated
there were five events in a row that involved not just rain, but significant
rain amounts. Of note was the first time in the history of the Elgin
Hog-Eye festival that the event was cancelled due to rain. |
| The San Marcos 1-day air show was a good event with Barry, Scott, Herb and
John attending with 3 vehicles. |
| Jeff reported the VI Corps show in Dallas was pretty good. There
were 4 or 5 vehicles present, period weaponry, and lots of vendors. |
| The Veterans Day Parade in Austin had an EXCELLENT turn out. There
were 12 vehicles in addition to many members showing up in period correct
uniforms. Hats off and thanks to Barry for providing coffee and doughnuts
prior to the event. |
New Business...
| Club elections were held for the year 2003. Toby, acting as the
election chair, presented the slate of officers as one since nobody else
indicated they wanted to run for a position. A quorum was met to
conduct the vote, a motion made to accept and a unanimous vote to install
the new Board for 2003. Officers for next year include:
President - Tim Weitz
Vice-President - Ward Boyce
Treasurer - Jeff McDonald
Secretary - Jenifer Leans |
|
The Temple Military Show scheduled for December 15, 2002 has
been cancelled. |
|
The Lavernia "Take over the Town" event remains
scheduled for December, 7, 2002. This is to be a tactical battle and
static display for the entire weekend. John K, Barry F, Jeff McD, Tim
W and Toby C indicated they will attend. Information can be found from
the VI CAV site 6thCAV.ORG. |
|
The 2003 Monster Truck Show in San Antonio is a
"GO". We have been invited for this event and have been
requested to provide 6-8 vehicles for both Saturday and Sunday's
events. Please stay tuned to the Upcoming Events section for more
information. |
|
The Boy Scout Parade is scheduled for February 8,
2003. This annual event starts on the Congress Ave bridge and runs
North to the Capital. More information to follow as known. About
60 people will need to be hauled if possible. |
General Information and Good of the Club...
|
A motion was made, discussion occurred and vote approved to
have a holiday party at the December meeting. |
|
The San Antonio chapter beginnings are off to a slow
start. As of this meeting, no formal group has been created and
progress to date has stalled. |
|
Toby brought up club liability insurance issues and the
topic was discussed at great length. Attorney's present provided their
take on the situation and indicated they would have more information at the
next meeting. |
| Claude provided samples of two flags from ComeAndTakeIt.com.
They seem to be nice, inexpensive flags with a high quality construction.

|
Danny indicated the Phantom F4C currently at the old Del
Valley high school is due to be moved and refurbished at the new
school. This will involve a transportation event in which more
information will be provided when learned. Bergstrom Airport has
stepped up and accepted the project as the jet was originally stationed
there for a period of time. |
|
Tim W indicated the club should be on the lookout for Batman
#13 in the comic book arena. There are some jeeps in the book. |
|
Toby handed out a document created from the US Congress
indicating their agreement on what the definition of a Firearm
is. |
The meeting was adjourned at 8:23pm.
