 DRAFT - Meeting Minutes

September 18, 2002

Call to Order: 

Meeting called to order at 1915.

 General Business:

          The minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted with minor changes.

          The Treasurer provided a report to the members present.  Year-to-date we have had an inflow of $823.00 and an outflow of 933.37, with a difference of <$110.37>.  Current membership is at 59, including 16 members not affiliated with the MVPA.  This gives our association a 73% rating with the National MVPA.  The report was accepted.

 

Old Business:

          Evant Road March and Trail Ride, held on Saturday, August 24, 2002.  Danny reported that participating members had “One Hell of a Time!”  The “After Action Report” is posted on the Lone Star website in the Past Events area. A total of ten vehicles participated including Milburn’s M3A1 Scout Car, WC-51 Dodge Weapons Carrier, and his GPW “Military Police” jeep.

          Wimberley Jubilee Parade, held on Saturday, August 31, 2002.  A total of 10 Historic Military Vehicles participated including 8 vehicles from our association.  Our club received the “Most Patriotic” ribbon and a Certificate of Appreciation from to organizers of the parade.

          Diez y Seis Parade, held in San Antonio on September 14, 2002.  Supported by members Ray V and Jim W.  Jim reported parade was viewed by very large crowds.  Television coverage brought the parade to many more, including feeds to cities in Mexico.

          Additional information of the event at Driftwood was not available at the time of the meeting.

          July 2003 Historic Military Vehicle display to be held in conjunction with the display of the works of Marc Dennis at the ....... Studio.  Some discussion followed.  Members requested additional information not available at time of meeting.  Item tabled, to be discussed next month.

          Danny announced that Robin P received her private pilot certificate on September 11, 2002.  She is now enroute to Laughlin AFB, Del Rio to begin her USAF pilot training.

      September 21, 2002                        Manor Lions Fest Parade.  Manor, Texas.  LS-MVPA supported.  Club T-Shirts.

      October 05, 2002                                    Gonzales’ “Come and Take It” Parade. Gonzales, Texas.  LS-MVPA supported.  Period correct uniforms, or Club T-Shirts.

      October 05, 2002                                    Midland Air Show (CAF).  Midland, Texas.  Details not available at meeting.  Additional information to follow.

      October 19, 2002                                    Hutto Old Tyme Days.  Hutto, Texas.  Additional details to follow.

      October 26, 2002                                    Elgin Hog-Eye Festival.  Elgin, Texas.  Static display of Historic Military Vehicles.  LS-MVPA supported.  Period correct uniforms, or Club T-Shirts.  Includes the “Road Hog Antique Car & Vehicle Show.”  Registration from 0900 to 1030.

      November 02, 2002                        Lackland AFB Air Show.  San Antonio, Texas.  Additional information to follow.

      November 02-03, 2002                        Muster Day, Camp Mabry.  Austin, Texas.  Living History camps and static display of Historic Military Vehicles.  Possible HMV parade and Living History “Show Battle.”  LS-MVPA supported.  Period correct uniforms preferred, or Club T-Shirts.

      November 16-17, 2002                        Military Vehicle Expo.  Dallas, Texas.

      November 09, 2002                        “Gathering of Memories” Air Show and Dinner-Dance.  San Marcos Airport, San Marcos, Texas.  Details limited, additional information to follow.  LS-MVPA supported.  Period correct uniforms, or Club T-Shirts.

      December 06-08, 2002                        “Operation Clean Sweep.” LaVernia, Texas.  THMS event.  Also includes a Static Display and Vendor Area.  Additional information to follow. 

General Information and Good of the Club...

          Upcoming Election of officers.  Nominating committee to be chaired by Toby C.

          Danny proposed idea of members bringing “For Sale” items to meetings.  Notice by E-Mail to membership prior to meeting date of items to be offered.  Response by members present was positive.

          John K reported the owner of a collection of old jeep parts in Hondo, Texas has identified most of the parts and they are now for sale.  Most parts are for the M38 or M38A1 jeeps.

          John S will be making a trip to Ft. Bragg, NC soon.  Can provide transport of parts, etc., to or from locations near his route.

          Jim W is looking for a set of Navy gold pilot’s wings and Officer’s Dress Service Hat.
