General Information and Good of the Club...

bulletThe M35A2 project donation has stalled.  We are not a 501C3 corporation so the company is not willing to donate it to us.  The group discussed passing along the name of the Stinson Field museum as well as outright purchase.
bulletBarry F placed 2nd with his Desert Storm Buggy at a recent "Heatwave Car Show".  This trophy was approx 3 1/2 FEET tall.  Congratulations Barry.
bulletDanny spoke of SB890 and the Gunshow Loophole where Congress is trying to pass legislation that ALL gun transactions require paperwork.  (including private party sales)
bulletClaude passed out a paper dealing with Canada's strict gun control measures that centered around Civil War re-enactors who were denied access to Canada with their black-powder guns.
bulletDanny posed to the group the creation of a "Surplus Store" book showing all the surplus and "toy" stores for our hobby.  It would include directions, items there, maps etc.  All agreed it would be good.
bulletClaude was published in Army Motors #100 for his article on wheel serial numbers.
bulletThe back end of Supply Line shows all the programs MVPA has going such as Correspondent, Photographer, Expert Driver etc.
bulletScott has been updating the Members Vehicles section of the club website.  Get pictures of your vehicle(s) to him if not yet done.
bulletJH is selling his '42 GMC CCKW 6x6 and his Chevrolet M1009 truck.
bulletGillian's in Lampasas has moved to make way for a new truck stop.  To get to his new location, as you head into Lampasas, take a right on 3rd, cross the tracks and he's 2 blocks on the right.
bulletDanny received a new member packet from Marvin G.  He's an Austin American Statesman employee who has attended several events with us.
bulletTim proposed a concept for a fund raiser to be held next year around the beginning of July.  His wife owns a studio (studio2gallery.com) on S. Lamar and is willing to donate a percentage of sales for the first 3 weeks in July with renowned artist Marc Dennis.  (marcdennis.com)He's an artist from NY who specialized in obscure military related artwork.  The show will run for 3 weeks and we are encouraged to have as many vehicles as possible for the event.  Other fund raiser ideas included concessions/donations/stick on tattoos.  Postcards can be printed and mailed.  Possibly need premises liability insurance but Tim can handle that.  The club might spend less than 500 and possibly generate considerably more that that based on sales.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:57pm.
