The meeting was called to order at 7:16pm

General Business...

bulletA new member joined tonight.  Mercer B. owns a restored M37, a good condition M880 Dodge and a Generator Trailer.  Welcome Mercer!
bulletIntroductions were made to Mercer of members present at the meeting.
bulletMinutes from the March 2002 meeting were read and accepted.
bulletNewsletters were mailed out.  Everyone should have received one.  If not, notify Claude V or Jeff McD.  Also, please complete the "yellow" page with the newsletter so the club database can be updated.
bulletSubmission of articles and pictures are requested from the newsletter editor.  If you have any articles, stories, or other interesting items, please send them to Claude V.

 

Old Business...

bulletThe Burnet Air Show this past weekend was well attended.  There were 8 vehicles and 9 or 10 members.

 

New Business...

bulletThe 3rd Annual Texas Willys Festival will be held this Saturday April 20 in Burton, just East of Austin on Hwy 290.  Former club member Joe VanSlyke passed away and this is the first annual Joe VanSlyke Memorial get together.  Look on the Upcoming Events for more information.
bulletApril 27/28 is the Galveston Air Show held in conjunction with the Lonestar Flight Museum.  Information on this non-club sponsored event can be seen at the VI Cav website.  (VICAV.com???)
bulletApril 27/28 is the Fiesta Flambeau Parade in San Antonio.  Jim W from San Antonio will be heading up any people interested in attending this huge event.  Dean K, Ray V and Jim plan on attending.
bulletJim H will be hosting a static display at a local San Antonio movie theater for the opening of a movie.  Contact Jim W for more information.
bulletMay 3/4/5 is the Georgetown Air Show in Georgetown Texas, just North of Austin.  The Vietnam reenactment is now complete and will proceed.  Pyrotechnics will be present so eye and hearing protection is required to participate.  Regarding the airshow, you MUST arrive BEFORE the gates open to gain admittance.  This means you MUST be in place BEFORE 4pm on Friday evening or 10am on Saturday or Sunday.  Period correct uniforms are the uniform of the day.
bulletTaylor Cotton Pickin Festival remains scheduled for April 27th.  Uniform of the day is Club T's.  You must be in place in Taylor by 9:00am for a 10:00am parade start.
bulletMay 11 is the Kars for Kids car show at the local Sonic Drive-In located at Riverside and South Congress.  We must enter as a GROUP so we will load/form up at the Austin American Statesman parking lot at the base of Congress Ave just South of the river at 8:30am and convoy the 1/8 mile to Sonic.  Uniform of the day is Club T's.
bulletThe St. Davids "Toast of the Town" event is scrubbed from our event list.
bulletJune 8 (sat) is the Lockhart Chisholm Trail Roundup Parade in Lockhart just South of Austin on Hwy 183.  Uniform of the day is Club T's.  BBQ as a group to follow parade.  More info to follow.
bulletJune 27-29 is the National MVPA Convention in Dallas at Fair Park.  Toby and Claude have three tables available for us to sell items if wanted.  General discussion centered around meeting in Round Rock about 6:30am for a 6:45am departure as a convoy to Dallas.  We must be set up by 1:00pm on Thursday so that's why the early start.

 

General Information and Good of the Club...

bulletDanny indicated he has a good supply of koozies, t-shirts etc.
bulletClub Rosters were passed out by Jeff.
bulletRobin P. (our Air Force honorary member) will graduate from the University of Texas May 17 with an Aerospace Engineering degree.  Ceremonies to be in Garrison Hall.  She's also been accepted to flight school at which time she receives her commission as a 2nd LT.  The club will probably get a card for her.
