 General Business . . .

 The meeting started at 7:15pm

q       Danny opened the meeting at 7:15pm and new introductions took place.  We have a new member – Clay N.  Clay has a CJ2A.  Also, Brian Shenk with the Camp Mabry museum Educational Group was on hand to give his and the Camp’s thanks for all the word done on getting the museum vehicles running.

q       The minutes from the 21-Mar-01 meeting were not read.  However, Scott indicated a copy was available on the club web site under the Members Tab, Minutes.

q       Scott gave the Treasury Report.  The club currently has 42 paid members and the treasury amount was accepted as read.  A request was made by Scott to be reimbursed $72.37 for food, beverage and supplies for the recent Burnet Air Show.  The motion was made, seconded and approved.

 Old Business . . .

q       The Adopt-A-Vehicle program is in full swing by Curtis and Richard!  They not only have the Korean ear XM-211 deuce running, but prior to the meeting, got the Korean era M37 purring like a kitten as well!  A short discussion was held on taking the vehicles to events.  The topics surrounded insurance requirements including “Load” insurance the hauler typically has, the Event insurance to insure against loss.

q       The club had 5 vehicles at the recent Burnet Air Show.  Everyone was in period correct uniform and Danny brought his bbq pit where we cooked food and had a good time.  Not much of the air show was viewed as we have seen it a dozen times before.

q       A discussion occurred about taking up the museums offer to place a membership display in the museum to promote our activities.  We agreed to use Harry’s jeep as the display area and place a 4x4 post with a shadow box containing club materials on it.  We will also have the sandwich board, membership applications, meeting time/location information and the web site posted.  The museum receives 17,000 visitors a year so we have an excellent opportunity to potentially solicit new members from this traffic.  A motion was made, accepted and approved to allow Danny to spend up to $150 to complete the display.

 New Business . . .

q       Georgetown Air Show remains scheduled for May 4-6.  JH presented an overview of the activities and maps were handed out.  Scott will try to scan them and get them posted on the club website for everyone.  In general, everyone must have their vehicle and display in place by 4pm on Friday if they plan on attending Friday nights events.  Otherwise, you must be in place by 10:00am for both Saturday and Sunday.  The organizers have provided 2 wrist bands for each vehicle.  They are NOT all access as last year.  This is due to our location which is on the attendee side of the tarmac and not in the middle of the field like last year.  We may get to participate in a parade down the flight line at dusk.  The area will be secure and we can leave the vehicles there overnight.  Saturday, there should be an F18-F16 flyover as well as a B2 flyover on Sunday.  This is a period correct uniform of the day event.  Those indicating their intentions to attend include Danny, Lewis, John K, Scott, Glen, Jim W, Curtis, Fred, JH, Jeff McD, Tim W, Don L and Greg B.  Airshow site is at:  http://www.gtuairshow.com

q       Kars for Kids Car Show remains scheduled for May 12.  This will be a club event and is located at the Sonic Drive-In on Riverside just East of Congress Ave.  Parking will be at the Austin American Statesman for tow vehicles on the West side of AAS.  Registration starts at 9:00 and you MUST have a registration form to participate. Get there early for AAS tow vehicle parking as downtown is all torn up and there are several other events going on that weekend.  Show starts at 10:00.

q       Long Range Desert Convention remains scheduled for May 18-20 at the Vintage Villias at Hudson Bend Road and RR620 by Mansfield dam.  This is a period correct uniform event.  Blank fire weapons are OK.  Barry indicated he will be there all weekend long providing security.  Check out http://www.klio.net/LRDC/ for more information.

q       The Randolph Air Show is cancelled this year.

q       Camp Mabry is holding an Armed Forces Day event May 19 from 10-6.

q       Upcoming events on the horizon include the Chisholm Trail Roundup in Lockhart June 9, Pearl Harbor movie screening Memorial Day weekend, McDade Parade July 14 and the National  MVPA Convention is scheduled for July 18-21 at Ft. Lee, VA.

q       Lakeway 4-Jul Parade is scheduled for Wednesday July 4 in Lakeway and Schertz on the same day for the Schertz parade.

q       This coming weekend, April 21, there is an event at Kerrville.  CFC Private museum at the airport.
