 The meeting started at 7:14pm

q       Carol Durrell was the guest speaker who presented information on the upcoming Long Range Desert Convention (LRDC) to be held 18-20 May at the Vintage Villas Resort on Lake Travis.  (Just of Hudson Bend Rd at 620)  The convention will deal with 1960’s TV shows focusing on military vehicles and history.  Those interested are asked to contact John K.

q       Treasury report was given by Treasurer Scott S.  There are currently 42 paid members and the treasury balance was accepted.  Delinquent members will be dropped March 01.  Those members include Shorty A, Theo P, Brennan M and Tom C.

q       Revised membership rosters will go out to the membership the first weekend of March according to Scott.

 Old Business . . .

q       The Boy Scout Parade was well attended with 6 vehicles from the club.  We were able to haul all scouts and their parents with the vehicles present on this cold day.  However, Toby noted that ‘convoy discipline’ was lacking. J

q       Don C spoke of an event he attended in Laredo as well as across the US border in Mexico.  The 201st Mexican Air Force had an event and it was fun.  They had 2 BMW motorcycles for this event.  After it was over, they had a police escort to the border and they attended the Laredo Air Show on Sunday.

 New Business . . .

q       Texas Independence Day Parade scheduled for March 2.  Danny provided handouts to the group.  At this time, our staging number is #21.  TXDOT parking lot East of the Sonic is available for tow and trailer vehicles.  We will stage on the Congress Ave bridge and follow the normal Congress parade route.  Parade starts at 11:30am.

q       Bastrop Mardi-Gras parade scheduled for the next day.  Due to a lack of interest, we will not attend this event as a group.

q       Brent Mullins event is scheduled for March 17th.  We should attend this event as a club.  Vehicles optional.

q       Burnet Air Show is scheduled for April 14th.  This is usually a good event and club participation is planned.

q       The Ft. Hood Korean War event has been postponed due to a lack of planning and funding on behalf of Ft. Hood.  Looking grim at this point for continuation.

q       The Galveston Air Show is scheduled for April 28/29.  No real discussion took place on if we would attend or not.

q       This Saturday, Feb 24, Camp Mabry is holding a “Salute to Veterans” day on post.

q       General Scribner asked if we (the club) would be interested in their “Adopt-A-Vehicle” program.  The club or individual members would provide their time on a vehicle or vehicles they have an interest in.  The museum would provide the parts necessary to bring the vehicles into running condition and maintain them.

q       Danny and Scott are headed to New Orleans and asked if anyone was interested in items from the D-Day Museum.

q       The Fiesta Flambeax parade in San Antonio is on the horizon.  No date has yet been set or the clubs participation level.

 General Information . . .

q       Hugh D has indicated he found an M37 for sale in the San Antonio area.  Asking price is $12,000.  Contact Hugh for more information

q       Web indicated he now has a second trailer to haul large vehicles.  He has already taken the museums Sherman on a trip or two and will have it at the Georgetown Air Show.

q       Toby provided a very nice presentation on the Seigfried Line during the Nov ’44 – Feb ’45 time period.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:56pm.
