Synopsis: |
Setup for the annual Hutto schools display will be on the afternoon of Sunday, Nov 8th. The exact setup time is not determined yet, it can be agreed on through communication between those who are coming. In years past, many of the vehicles were being kept about a five minute drive away, but now all have been moved and our drive will be around an hour each way, so that will stretch the day out and give us a later start with the nets since we have to have some of the bigger stuff in place prior to putting the nets up.
The actual display will begin at 0800 Monday Nov 9th and probably run through around 1600 (4PM). The more the merrier on this too.
Participation in either or both days is most welcome. At the moment, several of our usual crew are not able to attend, so we are going to be pretty short handed this year!
I have in hand a letter from the Hutto School District giving us permission to carry weapons/ordnance, both real and replica, on school grounds. NO LIVE AMMO/EXPLOSIVES PLEASE!!!
We also have permission to remain overnight in the display for those who choose to (I will stay Sunday night).
We will have access to restrooms in the school.
This year the display moves to Hutto Elementary. The reasons for this are to “spread the wealth” with some kids who have never seen the display before. Along with that, since our usual display area is actually a flood retention pond, it is somewhat soggy currently. We have no desire to simulate the Somme Valley offensive, so we have moved to drier ground!
The address is - 100 Mager Lane , Hutto.
Directions from IH-35: In Round Rock, go east on Hwy 79 ( Palm Valley ) 8.7 miles to downtown Hutto.
At the traffic light, turn left (North) on FM 1660
Go approx .6 miles and take a right (East)on CR 136/Mager Lane
The school will be about 200 yards from the intersection, on the right. Take the first driveway into the school parking lot, we will set up at the south end of the lot near the ball field.
If you plan on participating in either or both days, please let me know. I currently have commitments from only two members and my kids!
We would really like to have some WW2 stuff again, that was very popular the one year we had it.
Cheers-Rory
