2012 marks the 70th anniversary of the building of the Alaska Highway and the year of the convoy for the MVPA! What better way to honor that great engineering achievement than with a convoy of historic military vehicles.
97 historic military vehicles are registered for the MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy. Approximately 250 are participants are anxiously awaiting First Gear in Dawson Creek on 4 August. Convoy participants will come from the across the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, Australia and Belgium. The call for convoy registration resulted in an overwhelming response. Participants will travel thousands of miles by air, land or sea – just to get to Dawson Creek, BC, Canada. Given this response convoy registration closed at the end of August. Route conditions, road turn out sizes, available fuel stops, camping and lodging facilities were all taken into account when we made this decision. We hope you pass the attached information on to members in your newsletters and at Affiliate meetings.
