Event: Lakeway Independence Day
Date: 4 July 2008
Location: Lakeway, Texas
Description:

This annual club event started early with the troops gathering in Lakeway. By 7:15am everyone had arrived and once all were assembled and our TAVV Vietnam Vets were aboard, we headed for staging. This was a stop and start affair, driving down streets of ever decreasing size, but we ended up on the driving range and got in position.
While we were waiting for the parade to start an impromptu siren duel began. This was started by a fire truck and spread to everyone with a siren. Rick H didn’t have the loudest siren, but he easily won the ‘Longest Sustained Blast’ award. The parade eventually got underway and we pulled into it at our designated point near the end (110th). As always, this is a long and well attended parade, with essentially the whole town out to watch. With no rain this year, the weather was perfect. Once it was over everyone chatted for a bit, then headed for home.

We had a great turnout as usual for this event. Participants included- Claude V, Danny K and Madison H with their M37s, Glen V and his jeep, Jeff M and Nurse Haley with his MB, Rick and Mrs. H with his M38A1, John and Mrs K with his MB, John SS and his M561 Gama Goat with Michelle and her parents, Jeff L with his M35A2, Rory with his M813A1 along with Jane, Caitlin, Davey, Patrick and his buddy David M, and Sam R.
