By: Scott S.The annual club convoy combined with the monthly meeting was
held on a beautiful Saturday. For several days prior, Events Coordinator
Danny was cleaning and prepping his place we affectionately call "Kaiserville"
for the onslaught of historic military vehicles. In fine fashion, starting
early Saturday morning the vehicles began to roll in.
The vehicle line-up
this year included little trucks, big trucks and huge trucks. In fact, we
had eleven vehicles this year! Glen V was there with his CJ2A, JD and his
dad had their MB and Madison drove his M37. Rory drove his 5 Ton with Jeff
L and his deuce. Danny had his M37 on display as well as his M151A2. Fred
finally finished his project Navy CJ2A for it's maiden 'voyage' and I
brought my M38A1. Also there was Herb with his GPW and Chuck B and his wife
Connie with their MB. After the majority of us had arrived and munched down
on coffee and doughnuts, the club conducted an informal swap meet while Herb
worked on some little project. About 11:30, it was time to roll out so we
all fired up the vehicles and made the short 20 mile trip to Lockhart.
There, we went to Kreitz's Market where we were treated to ample parking
for the large number of vehicles. We sure did draw a crowd this time.
After we secured our vehicles, we all headed inside to some pretty good bbq.
About an hour or so later, with bellies full and fresh refills on iced tea,
we headed over to the Lockhart County Courthouse for some photo
opportunities. Many shots were taken in front of the historic building then
we headed back to Kaiserville.
Upon arrival, we parked the vehicles and allowed ourselves to relax under
the big awning and cool down as the temperatures were still climbing. When
everyone was cooled off, we conducted our monthly club meeting in short
order.
After the meeting, some members loaded up their vehicles for the long
trips back to Corpus or San Antonio, while others stayed and enjoyed each
others company.
It just doesn't get any better than this.....
