Event: Ft. Hood Operation Bulldog
Date: October 20-22, 2006
Location: Ft. Hood Texas
Description: John Lu with Best of USA Marketing requested help from LSMVPA with troop transport for a charity event to be held on Fort Hood to benefit the USMC Reserve unit in Dallas. This comprised an urban combat exercise for civilian airsoft war-gamers.
Early on the Friday the trucks were convoyed up to Gatesville; John SS and Jeff L in their M35A2’s, Rory C and son David in the M813A1. Everyone met at the National Guard armory and in the early evening a couple of transport runs were made onto Fort Hood, ferrying the “troops” to the exercise area where they would camp. These runs out were made again early on the Saturday and Sunday mornings for those who ‘camped’ at motels in town, the returns made late Saturday evening, and on Sunday afternoon.
During the days the participants were transported in the trucks to various MOUT sites for different battle scenarios.
A lesson on the importance of punctuality was taught to the participants who were late for the scheduled morning departure times; they got to ride in the back of John’s deuce with no tarp on it. Fifteen miles in an uncovered truck with temperatures in the low 40’s can be very convincing!

There were around 150 players (more?) who came from all around the US to participate. These folks take their BB gun wars very seriously, and appear to have a great deal of fun doing it too. The military, doing artillery practice nearby, unintentionally provided some very realistic sound effects during the day.

A good time was had by all. By 2pm on Sunday the operation was concluded, the prizes handed out, the charity had made a tidy sum, and everyone set off for their homes across the country. The trucks convoyed back to Austin and a very entertaining weekend was complete.
