About dark-thirty, most of the cars had left the Oak Hill
Neighborhood Associations "Hot
Rods and Hot Music" event and headed over to the Albertson's
parking lot for the weekly Saturday Night Car Show. Scott S. joined the
pack as well with his 1953 M38A1.
He drove the quick 1 mile or so to the Albertson's and found a spot to
park and was surprised that many of the vehicles that had been at the
event earlier had either departed or didn't show up for the weekly car
show.
Scott fielded many questions about the jeep including several with a
gentleman named Steve and his lovely friend. Steve is interested in
in restoring an M38A1 or other mil-veh. Scott spoke with several other
people about the jeep and wandered around to see the other vehicles.
A pretty tricked out black Camaro showed up complete with blower and
great smelling fuel. As it turns out, the car is about as close to a
true quarter-mile strip car as they get and still be legal. In fact,
most everyone watched him 'tune' the car from his laptop! Amazing.
There was one of the new Chevrolet 5.5L SSR's there next to what
appeared to be the basis or platform for it's design. Maybe a 40's
Chevrolet truck??? There were also some very nice
muscle cars and newer street cars as well. A few motorcycles were
also tossed in.
About 8pm, Scott cranked up the jeep and headed home the quick 2 miles or
so. As always, the Saturday Night Car Show at Albertson's parking
lot is a fun event.
